The second round got suspended for today, leaving Anirban at T15 which can end up anywhere between T14 to T17 by the time round finishes. The early morning rain delay did not leave enough time to complete the round. More or less he has maintained his position from first round (T18) and similar stroke deficit from the top position (5 strokes instead of 4 in round 1).

The top scores at the end of the second day:

1 -10 JOHNSON, Dustin 65 (13)
2 -9 WILLETT, Danny 66 69
T3 -8 LAWRIE, Paul 66 (12)
T3 -8 DAY, Jason 66 (11)
T5 -7 (5 players)
T10 -6 (5 players)
T15 -5 LAHIRI, Anirban 69 70

Very steady round from Anirban. I know it is a lot of money to even finish 20th but I would like him to take a lot more risks if he is in the same position come Sunday (5 strokes or so behind the leader at the end of the 3rd round). Even coming close to winning a major will be gamechanging for Anirban and for the sport in India.

Very exciting stuff from Anirban Lahiri to be at 5-under par at the halfway mark -- and tied at 15th along with the likes of Jordan Spieth (who is going for the golf Grand Slam) and perennial home favourite Justin Rose.

Round 3 is scheduled for Sunday due to the cancellation of Saturday's round (windy conditions with wind speeds at 40 miles per hour!). Anirban is yet to start his round -- he is paired with Geoff Ogilvy and his round with start within an hour from now. Let us hope for a very good round from him.

You certainly jinxed him Prashant. He has gone 31 holes without dropping a shot at that point and was looking very good to be in contention going into the final day. Sigh.

And another bogey on the 17th argh; any chances for a great finish is gone.

Anirban is done with 9 holes in the fourth round and is -3 (=+4-1) for the day. We need a similar (-2 to -3) in the last 9 holes for a chance to finish in the top 10. The key is to avoid the several bogeys that he made in the back 9 in the third round. Good luck Anirban. Stay cool in the head and hot on the course.

Unfortunately, no heroics from Anirban in those final 9 holes. He finished the day Even-par, and 6-under for the tournament -- which leaves him on T33 at the moment, with that ranking subject to possible change. Phil Mickelson also finished 6-under par, if that is any compensation!

Anirban did a mirror image on the back 9 with +3 (4 bogeys and a birdie)... Par course for the day...

His nemesis has been the 13-17 holes.... where he had 4 bogeys.... He had 3 bogeys on those holes yesterday and 2 bogeys in Rd 1...
The only other bogey he had was on hole 1 today... If he had been able to master these holes and got all pars in them, he'd have been tied for T1 right now..., but not to be.....

T33 as of now...

Anirban is T31 right now and looks like that will be his final standing. What a coincidence as he finished exactly T31 three years back in 2012 Open. Yesterday at one point he was in contention. However, the back nine took his toll. Today, once again it looked he might make it to top 10, but it was not to be.

Update He actually finished T30. I typed this earlier but didn't post it at that time.

The best performance by an Indian in The Open is T27 by Jyoti Randhawa in 2004. That was his second consecutive year in The Open having missed the cut previous year. In 2004 we also had two Indians in The Open, Arjun Atwal in his only one appereance being the other, but he missed the cut. Shiv Kapur played twice and made the cut once finishing T73. Jeev Milkha's best performance was T69 in 2012, while in his only other appearance in 2007 he missed the cut.

Anyway, Anirban becomes the only Indian to make the cut twice in this tournament. T31 is still a very good finish that he can be proud of  Hopefully he'll give stronger performances in the future.

Missed a great chance to make handsome bucks, still a good reward for the weeks work...

T30 Anirban Lahiri $63,075

a T10 could have resulted in almost 3.5 times the money he gets now..

Anirban Lahiri who is struggling with the back spasms at World Golf Championships-Invitational, is currently T72 with a score of 9 over par after Day 2.

:goodluck: for the weekend rounds.

He is currently T-55 after 17 holes in the final round. He had a very good -3 round in the 3rd round with 6 birdies which moved him up but he is +2 on the final day. Looking at the stats, his putting is what has let him down at this tournament.

Anirban birdied the final hole to finish +7 and T-53 overall good for a $48K purse. He went even par in the last 3 holes, so hopefully he's rounding into form.
