Very steady golf from Anirban today.

Next week should again be a good course for him, and hopefully he can do a repeat.

Excellent to see Anirban regain form at a great time in the season. He finished tied with Rory McIlroy at T6, after a good 2-under round for Anirban and 3-over for McIlroy. Anirban was struggling to put four good rounds together earlier in the season, but is now showing a rich vein of form. Doing well at this week's PGA championship would crown it. He may even be considered a title contender on current form...

10,000,000 WGC Bridgestone Invitational

T6 Anirban Lahri 65 70 69 68 -8 ($241,375)
T69 Shubhankar Sharma 72 79 72 70 +13 ($47,000)

This is Anirban's best performance at a WGC event, his previous best was T28.
The best performance by an Indian at WGC event was by Jeev Milkha Singh who finished 4th in the WGC Cadillac Championship in 2009.

With this performance, Anirban Lahiri is now ranked 93 in World Rankings 4 places behind Shubhankar Sharma who is ranked 89.
Gaganjeet Bhullar is now ranked 114.

Steady golf from Shubhankar until a bogey on the last hole ruined it a bit. -1 for the day to be T33.

Up and down for Anirban as he had 5 birdies and 5 bogeys on his card to end even and T46. Good thing for him is that as expected, this course has a lot of birdies for him and he just needs to have a clean round to shoot up the leaderboard.

Meltdown from Shubhankar on the back 9 and he will join Anirban in missing the cut.

Poor stuff from both.

NRI Julian Suri is currently T-12 and will be looking for a top 10 finish in the final round.

Julian Suri had an even par final round and slipped to T19.

All the drama was at the top of the leaderboard, with Tiger Woods (6 strokes behind at the start) scoring a 64 (his best round ever at a major), and finished second (2 strokes behind winner Koepka). So T6 at the British Open, and 2nd at the PGA championship. Tiger is back for sure!!

Yes, the "old" Tiger has turned into a little bit of Yuki :D . He is definitely back if he stays injury free. In the last few years, it seems he gets injured every time he seems to be back. It will be nice if he has a final couple of years free of injury and plays well enough to be a contender in the majors as he's been in the last 2 majors.

Tiger was in contention on the back 9 on Sunday in the last 2 majors; that's a lot more than people thought he would manage even 6 months back.

Koepka though was a monster all week. Tiger was only able to keep pace because he was scrambling and putting so well (no fairways hit on front 9, 10 putts over same holes).

In all honesty, Shubhankar is 90% awful and 10% very good with nothing in between. I think the hype and marketing around him is a bit too much given where his game is at.
