Anirban Lahiri has qualified to okay the second major of the year, courtesy of his FedEx ranking.
He will tee off at the PGA Championship at Tulsa, OK next week.
Well done Anirban for qualifying for another major and hope your good form continues.
Anirban is now also in contention for a place in the International Team for President Cup.
Another few good finishes will push him for automatic qualification.

Looks like the distraction and uncertainty took its toll on Anirban.
Arriving late, just a day before the tournament on a difficult course didn’t help.
Still missed cut by 2 shots only.
Anirban takes a break next week, presumably going home to be with the family.

Also there were high winds in the morning when Anirban played which died down in the afternoon. Most of the low scores came in the afternoon. So a little bit of bad luck with the conditions also played a part.

Subhankar Sharma is playing another major - The Open, courtesy of his top 30 finish in last year’s European order of merit.
Has started off well with a first round score of 3 under par to br T7 :notworthy:
Hope he consolidates this in round 2 today.

Even with a double bogey on his penultimate hole, compensated by a birdie on the last and an EVEN PAR second round, Subhankar moves forward to T4 after round 2.

Needs 2 solid rounds to be in contention.
Excellent performance after an average past few months for him. Go SS Go!!

Conditions were a bit easier today and SS made a one under 70 so he falls down to T9.

Our best major result is Anirban's T5 from the PGA championship a few years back so Shubhankar will need to go low tomorrow to beat that.

Finished T8 which is only our 3rd top-10 finish ever at a major so very well done to SS. He will earn $429,700 which likely is his biggest prize money won.

Tom Kim from Korea finished T2.

Shubhankar had a makeable birdie putt on the last hole which would have pushed him a bit higher. Great performance by him! This was a course which rewarded ball placement rather than power, so those are the courses which give him the best chance to compete.

Congratulations to Shubhankar Sharma for finishing T8 at The (British) Open Championships. That is easily the best-ever performance by an Indian at this most prestigious of golf tournaments. (The previous best I think was around 30 by Anirban Lahiri).

Only two others have finished in the top-10 at a major: Anirban was T5 at the PGA Championships in 2015, and Jeev Milkha Singh was T9 at the 2008 PGA Championship (his best at the Master's was T25 in 2008 although I seem to remember him doing better than that).

Superb and consistent performance from SS.
Four solid rounds avoiding any bad round.
T8 should give him direct entry to next year Open too.
Moves him to 54 on the European Order of Merit too which should secure his card for next year.
