Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
Both Anirban Lahiri (T30) and Jeev Milkha Singh (T40) have made the cut at the (British) Open championships!!
Fantastic achievement. This is indubitably the first time two Indians have made the cut at the Open. (I don't remember any Indian having made the cut here before, actually, so these may be the first ever). Remarkable that Lahiri did it on the first attempt. And Jeev becomes the first Indian to have made the cut in all four golf majors. A pioneer yet again .

Looks like Anirban Lahiri has just aced the 9th hole. He is now -1 on the round after the 9th hole and overall and is currently T-17. Vijay carded a 68 and is now T-28. Jeev is having a tough round and +4 overall after 15 holes and is in 58th place.

Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
Good solid round from Anirban and he continues to remain par or better for the tournament after each days play.
Today's highlight was his ACE on the 9th.
It's the only ace of this years Open.
Finishes day 3 on T18, after a bogey on the last hole....
Needs to get the job tomorrow with another good round.
If he can move to top 10, he will qualify for 2013 Open.
Anirban is 2 shots behind the T10 player...so it can be done.
Jeev - after the great and tiring week last week fell away to finish T76.
to both for good rounds tomorrow!!!

Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
Nice work by Anirban Lahiri to be at T18 (along with Vijay Singh) going into the final day. The ace on the 9th hole was special indeed! In the first two rounds, Anirban had shared the Asian lead in this Open with Thongchai Jaidee: but the latter had a 4-over par round and slid to T54, so Lahiri is now the top Asian on the leaderboard. Remarkably consistent performance by him so far: I hope he can sustain it on the final day tomorrow.
Jeev had a miserable 6-over round, and lies T76. Phil Mickelson didn't make the cut (missing it by a country mile!). Tiger Woods still in contention at 4th place, five shots off the lead (but Adam Scott is very much in the driving seat).

Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
Jyoti Randhawa (T27 in 2004) currently holds the record for the best Indian finisher at an Open championship. Lahiri has a good chance to better that -- and will hopefully aim to become the second Indian to finish in the top-10 in a major (after Jeev).

Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
No heroics from Jeev in the final round: he scored a 73, to finish 10-over par and currently is T74. Lahiri and most of the leaders have yet to start their final round.

Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
Anirban Lahiri has slipped to T25 after 13 holes (over which he is 2-over par today), while Vijay Singh has climbed to T13 after going even-par over 13 holes.

Re: 2012 Majors / WGC events
Hope Anirban can hold on and finish in the top-25. A strong result here will be a great boost to his confidence and confidence is a key ingredient for success in golf (perhaps even more so than in most other sports). A top-10 finish for Vijay would be nice as well although he is clearly on the downside of his HOF career.
