ROYAL TROPHY, Asia vs Europe Golf Championship
The first Royal Trophy encounter between Asia and Europe is on this week-end. Arjun and Jyoti are in the Asian team, as this story says:
http://www.golftoday.co.uk/news/yeartod ... oyal4.html
And here's a story (from AFP) in the local press talking about the event that starts tomorrow:
http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp? ... sec=sports
I didn't realise that Arjun was rated the best putter in the PGA last year, as this story says!
It should be interesting to see veterans like Nick Faldo and Ian Woosnam go up against the buoyant Asian team.

Europeans need 2.5 points in 8 single matches to take home the trophy... while Asians need to get 6 points ..
Arjun is playing Faldo (good experience for Match play) and Jyoti is playing Mcdowell..
Europeans are leading in two matches.. And looks like a big thrashing is on cards

2006 Royal Trophy - Asia vs Europe
The Europeans win the Royal trophy but it was a close affair.....the Asians lost 9-7.......Atwal played well to beat Nick Faldo....Jyoti after being 3 down early in the round managed to claw back to make it all square but then again McDoweel picked up his game to beat Jyoti by 2......
In yesterdays 4ball after some 15 holes it did seem that the Asians would win atleast 2 of the matchplays...If only they had done that!!!
Nevertheless not a bad effort considering the Europeans had a great line up but disappointing to c Asia lose!

Overall, it wasn't a bad show from Asia. The final score of 9-7 is pretty close. One additional win would have tied the scores.
