Mukesh wins again with a record!!! He matches Ernie Els and Daniel Chopra's record of acieving 30 under in 72 holes. Superb performance :notworthy:

He is the report on Mukesh's win. Unfortunately, the reporter missed mentioning the feat of Daniel Chopra when Daniel broke the under 30 barrier in NW tour last year .

Mukesh did well to win and have a very good score. However, these scores need to be put in perspective. The golf course was easy and the cut was made at about -4 or so. I will not put Mukesh's performance at par with those of Ernie Els, Daniel Chopra and Jeev Milkha Singh.

Yes superb performance by Mukhesh ... Winning so authoratively with one round of 59 ... Simply amazing stuff ... :bounce:

I agree Bhushan that course was playing easy, but then one should take advantage of it and Mukesh managed that ... Thats more remarkable in my view.

By the way Ernie played a par 73 course, DAniel played par 72 course, while Mukesh played pas 70 course.

I agree these scores need to be put in perspective, whether it was Ernie or Daniel or Mukesh. I have put the scores of top 10 plyers in all three tournaments. From the scores it is obvious that for shooting -30, the course hase to be helpful and many more low scores are shot in the tournament. But if we (correctly) attribute this feat of scoring -30 , to the easy playing conditions, we should not bother to look at this record at all. The point is that the course was playing easy for all the players, but someone has to come out on top and achieve it. Credit goes to Mukesh as he led rest of the field by 6 strokes, i.e. he has to really play well as none of the other player could even come close to achieving this feat. Same goes with Ernie and Daniel as they really played well and beat the next player by a margin of -8 and -4 respectively. Ofcourese we can't compare the quality of field of PGA with NW or with Indian PGA

Top Scores (After 72 Holes):
1 (-30) 250_Mukesh Kumar (64,64,59,63);
T2 (-24) 256_Vishal Singh (65,64,62,65), Yusuf Ali (62,64,65,65);

My point about the futility of comparison had to do with what you wrote:
Ofcourese we can't compare the quality of field of PGA with NW or with Indian PGA
I wonder what would have been the scores of the golfers if the players from these three tournaments had a chance to play in all these three tournaments.

I am not trying to discredit the achievement of Mukesh but simply pointing out that these kind of scores should be compared within their own group.

INDIAN PGA AND PRO GOLF IN INDIA-Airtel Masters Championship

Post by BSharma »

According to a report in The Times of India, Shiv Kapur has been invited to play in the Zurich Open Pro-Am on August 15 and 16, 2005 at Schonenberg Golf Club.

Since the Asian Tour and Indian Tour are on hold during the summer, I wonder what are the Indian golfers doing? Some of them must be resting to get ready for the season that extends into the winter, but does anyone know if the Indian golfers on the Asian Tour or Indian Tour are planning to make a move into the next higher Tour?
