INDIAN PGA AND PRO GOLF IN INDIA-Airtel Masters Championship

Good start for Chowrasia in this season as he was able to keep away the defending champion Ashok Kumar. Chowrasia was in contention in the first tournament too, where he led till the halfway mark, remained in contention after 3rd round, but a poor 4th round saw him drop out.

This was the third tournament of the season of the Amby Valley PGAI Tour. Previous winners were Jyoti Randhawa and the king of PGAI, Mukesh Kumar.

I thought Ashok Kumar will be playing in APGA this week, but here he is, playing in Amby Valley PGAI Tour 2005-06 season at Chennai. Two good rounds has put him on the top of the leaderboard, with Vijay Kumar, last week champ Chowrasia and some other chasing him.

Here is the 2nd day report.

Third day and the leader is now S Madaiah as he edges past Ashok Kumar. But lurking behind by just two strokes, is Mukesh Kumar. Chowrasia is one stroke further behind. This looks like to e an easy course with many cards in 60s. So two or three stroke lead is not good enough to be comfortable.

Here is a Rediff report.

Top scores (after 54 holes) Pros: 197 S Madaiah (B'lore) (65, 68, 64); 198 Ashok Kumar (Del) (65, 66, 67); 199 Mukesh Kumar (Mhow) (71, 66, 62), SSP Chowrasia (Kol) (67, 67, 65), C Muniyappa (B'lore) (65, 68, 66); 200 Feroz Ali (Kol) (67, 67, 66); 201 Vijay Kumar (Lucknow) (71, 62, 68); 202 Nabin Mondal (Kol) (66, 68, 68); 203 Rafick Ali (Kol) (69, 66, 68); 204 Vinod Kumar (Del) (68, 70, 66); 205 Matloob Rana (Pak) (68, 68, 69); 206 Harinder Gupta (73, 70, 63), Indrajit Bhalotia (Kol) (70, 68, 68), Vishal Singh (Jaipur) (66, 72, 68), Sankar Das (Kol) (70, 67, 69), Sheeraz Kalra (Lucknow) (68, 69, 69), Amritinder Singh (Gurgaon) (69, 67, 70)

Something is terribly wrong with the Professional Golfers' Association of India and professional golfers ... Tiger Sports Marketing, an organisation which played a major part in the staging of the professional tournaments all over the country, cancelled its bank guarantee of Rs. 3.20 crores and two tournaments remaining on this year's calendar with prize money of Rs. 25 lakh may not be conducted.

As per report a new governing body was being mooted and Kapil Dev was tipped to lead the new organisation with the backing of the Sahara group.

Check detailed report on Hindu's site -
