PGTI 2020

Post by prajgolf » Sun Feb 16, 2020 6:33 am

The 2020 season has begun and Udayan Mane has won the first two events

3 Feb - 8-Feb 2020 Golconda Masters (INR 40 Lacs) Winner: Udayan Mane (IND) 267 (-17)

11 Feb - 14 Feb, 2020 Tata Steel PGTI Players Championship 2020 (INR 30 Lacs) Winner: Udayan Mane (IND) 268 (-20)

Udayan Mane will replace Shubhankar Sharma as second highest ranked Indian as per OWGR rankings.

It seems true to say that Udayan Mane has had a meteoric rise in the past 6-7 weeks. First he won last year's PGTI Tour championship (last tournament of the year) in early January, and now he has started with two consecutive titles at the start of 2020.

He is only ranked 303 in the world. Does that make him the top-ranked Indian? What a fall for Indian golf. Udayan Mane seems to perform exclusively in the PGTI tournaments in India. He missed the cut in the SMBC Singapore Open, for instance.

Previously the golf section used to get bumped for performances on the US PGA and European tour.

Leave alone the Asian tour, all we now see is the PGTI tour. That puts the fall of Indian golf in perspective.
