Re: Asian Tour 2016
His driving has been poor this morning, and he is going to drop strokes on the easy 3 (par 5).

He won US$ 406,000, had he won this event he would have got approx 1.2 million as prize money.Omkara wrote:What's the rough prize money he won?

Re: Asian Tour 2016
T-3 is his best finish on the PGA tour, so kudos to Anirban on a fine performance. On the final day, his driving continued to be relatively poor while his irons were a lot worse than yesterday as he was not getting anything close even with his lofted clubs. His putting was generally very good.
The commentators were quite upbeat on his potential and one of them noted that he struggled in US lin 2016 as he was playing most of the courses for the first time. In his view, he should do a lot better this time around as he will be more familiar with the courses just as he did well in the KL event which was played on a course which he was familiar with having previously won an European tour title on the same course.

Re: Asian Tour 2016
After his spectacular third round of 65 -- which put him into a 4-stroke lead -- Anirban had to play really badly to give it away today. Sadly, he did. T3 is still his best finish on the PGA tour, but it would have been awesome if he could have just held his nerve and played normally today to win. I only realised this morning (when I saw the newspaper reports about his great round yesterday) that this was a joint-PGA tour event. Great opportunity lost today, but good to see Anirban regaining form in Asia in the past two weeks.

Re: Asian Tour 2016
Bummer for Anirban......
Wish somebody was able to find his tee shot in the trees on the 3rd hole. I think he lost two strokes (original tee and penalty) because he has to retake his tee shot. and then he made a double bogey making it a quadruple bogey...... what a disaster of a hole...
He would have at least tied at the top to force a play-off if not for that disaster of a hole....
But at least, he was in contention for more than 3 weeks this time....
Last year, he was fizzling out after the 2nd round...

Re: Asian Tour 2016
Yes, he has been in contention in the familiar Asian courses and this is easily his best performance of the year. Hopefully, he'll do better in the US this year as he will be more familiar with the courses there.prajgolf wrote:He won US$ 406,000, had he won this event he would have got approx 1.2 million as prize money.Omkara wrote:What's the rough prize money he won?
BTW, his pay check from the CIMB classic is more than Yuki's career earnings and nearly twice Saketh's career earnings from tennis. Also, the Fedex Cup points would put him in great shape for the 2017 PGA tour rankings after he barely retained his card this year (finishing 117th where the top-125 retain full playing privileges).

We should all focus on GOlF. Anirban life time earning will be way higher than most players of other sports

Sorry, many of us here can focus on, understand, and compare across different sports (and different generations and different geographies etc.). If that is too hard for you, I guess to each his own...
