PANASONIC OPEN (INDIA) - ROUND 1

Post by ajay »

Anirban LAHIRI opens up a 2 stroke lead in the first round of Panasonic Open - the 3rd golf tournament of the year in India, after Avantha Masters (jointly with EPAGA) and Sail Open. It is also the 3rd tournament for the Asian tour in 2011. We had an Indian winner in the Avantha Masters, but not in Sail Open. Can we have another Indian winner. Lahiri has been knocking on the door of the victory, but he is yet to finish on top on the fourth day. He has opened a promising campaign on the first day. C'mon Lahiri! Go all the way!

The top Indian and one of the pre-tournament favorite Bhullar had a forgettable day with a card of 6 over par 78 that included a quadruple bogey on 9th hole. I hope he'll make a comeback tomorrow.

Here are the First Round Results

Lahiri could only play 1 under in 2nd round and he is T2nd at -8. The top spot is taken by Mardan Mamat from Singapore who is at -12, 4 strokes better than the next one. There are 5 Indians in top 10. The old horse Jyoti Randhawa showed his teeth today with a 6 under round that rocketed him to 6th place from T46 in first round. His round had 4 bogeys, but then he also had 6 birdies and 2 eagles.

Going into the final round,Mardan Mamat stands between Indians and the title. He has a good lead of 3 strokes over Anirban Lahiri at -15,followed by Manav Jaini,Himmat Rai and Jyoti Randhawa.Mukesh Kumar and Rookie Rashid Khan are in top10. Good R3 of -4 puts OOM leader SSP Chowrasia in top15. Good luck to all Indians for the final round, hopefully we will have an Indian winner in the end :goodluck:
