PKB, thanks for starting the new thread for Hero Honda Indian Open. Although it is part of Asian tour, but this tournament is special for Indians and must be recognized in its own thread.

Being a home tournament, there are many Indian players in the field. For the Indians, the players to watch are the stars Arjun Atwal and Daniel Chopra, the young guns Gaganjeet Bhullar, Lahiri, Muniyappa and Himmat Rai, other established and active international players like Ghei, Chowrasia, Rahil Gangjee, Digvijay Singh. Then there are kind of previous generation players :) Amandeep Johl. Arjun Singh, Harmeet Khalon, Vijay Kumar, Mukesh Kumar.

And we have some young but forgotten players like Ashok Kumar, Chiragh Kumar, Rahul Ganapathy, who look promising, got their chances but could not break out so far. Finally there are upcoming youngster (ex. Harendra Gupta) who are relatively unknown but ready to break out any time.

But when a tournament is held in India, there is quite a possibility for an unheralded player to spring a surprise and beat the more established players and come out on the top. In a few days we will see what happens this time.

Agreed. They also would like to try and finish inside top 60 to be able to paly the lucrative USD10M (now reduced to 7.5M) Race To Dubai Championships.

Excellent round of 66 (so far the day's best) in round 2 by Arjun to move inside top 20. :notworthy:
66 after a 75 yesterday was some effort.
C Muniyappa is in 2nd place as the 2nd round is underway.

Arjun Atwal(-3) must be satisfied after returning the best round of the day, that open an opportunity to go for the top spot in the weekend. He is 6 strokes behind the joint leaders at -9.

Muniyappa has been lately showing some form and the two days of good golf has made him half way leader albeit jointly. One stroke behind atT3 position is Digvijay Singh who has now played two consistent round of 68. Muniyappa and Digvijay have ensured Indian representation at the top and hopefully two another consistent round will see them fighting for the top honors.

Daniel Chopra is also lurking behind in the top 10 ready to put up a serious challenge for the top honors. Joining him another Indian in top 10 is the veteran Mukesh Kumar.

Good to see Bhullar at even par making the cut. Overall 24 Indians and Indo-Swede made the cut that has exactly 70 players. Expecting some more good news over the weekend. :goodluck:

Fantastic to see Muniyappa surge into the joint-lead at the halfway mark. But I'm even more excited to see Arjun Atwal surge from the back of the pack to T19 with a superb 66, and Daniel Chopra and Digvijay Singh still in contention at T9 and T3 respectively. And Michael Campbell isn't out of it yet either, after a 67 that pulled him from the brink of elimination to T31. So an exciting weekend awaits!

Muniyappa made a school boy error in the 18th and so his 10 under is subject to scrutiny and it could change over night. But until then he will be leading by one stroke officially.

I'm very happy to see Harinder Gupta in 2nd spot as he is another youngster with potential.
