Once again Anirban showing evidence that he is near a breakthrough victory. Airban's 7 birdies and a sole bogey put him in sole 2nd position with a round of -6, 2 strokes behind the leader Chinese Taipei’s CHAN Yih-shin(-8). Muniyappa(-5) is also right up there, a stroke behind Anirban.

Nice show by Indians as threee of them are in top 10. Little disappointing not to see Himmat Rai up there as he is only T86

2 Anirban LAHIRI 66 -6 66
T3 C. MUNIYAPPA  67 -5 67

T28 Harmeet KAHLON  71 -1 71*
T39 Firoz ALI  72 E (72)*
T50 Manav JAINI  73 1 73
***** Projected Cut *****

Quotes from Anirban's interview:
Anirban Lahiri (Ind) wrote: It is a nice way to start the week. I teed off early in the morning and it wasn’t very breezy and I took advantage of it on the front nine.

I putted very well. Finding the speed of the greens is very tough but I managed to achieve that. During practice rounds I wasn’t able to gauge the speed properly but the lines are relatively easy to read.

It is always nice to get a birdie at the start because it gets you in the right frame of mind. I find it easier to focus if I get off to a birdie start because the next few holes you are not thinking about anything else but making another birdie.

I really liked was the birdie on the third and fourth hole. I was three-under after four holes so that was good. I know that the back nine will play tough if the wind pick up.

The highlight of the day was my birdie on the ninth hole which in my opinion is the hardest hole on the golf course. I made a three on number nine (par four) and that was good because I made the turn on four-under. I hit a massive drive and approach with my six iron. That is an important hole because it is playing really long for a par four.

My second half of the season has been quite hectic so I took a couple of days off last week to rest. I’m mentally more relaxed and I don’t need to fight to keep my Tour card this week so I’m just going out to have fun.

There is no pressure for me to perform this week because it is not a crunch week for me. A lot of guys here are under the gun so it is not a good situation to be in.

The whole concept of keeping your card is a negative concept because it limits you to winning or playing well but I am just here to try and have fun and see what my chances are.

Good going for Indians as few more players are in contention now. Today's real story was Rahil's super performance as he moved from T68 to T2 with a card of 64(-8). Harmeet Kahlon also played a excellent round of 5 under 67 to join Anirban and Rahil at the 2nd spot. Ghei was also set to join them but he lost track with 4 bogeys in last 6 holes. But he is still in contention as he is just 3 strokes away from the leader. Muniyappa also dropped a shot today and he is tied with Ghei just outside top 10.

Inspite of bad start for Anirban, when he hit a double bogey on his 3rd hole, he kept his calm and played a par round to keep his position intact, although, instead of sole 2nd spot he has to share it with 5 other players. The leader drooped a shot too today, therefore he is just one stroke ahead of our trio of Harmeet, Rahil, and Lahiri.

Eight of the eleven Indian players made the cut. Himmat missed the cut by one stroke and Baaz missed it by two strikes.

The leader and the Indian players standing follows:

1 1 CHAN Yih-shin 64 73 -7 (137)*

2 28 Harmeet KAHLON 71 67 -6 138
2 68 Rahil GANGJEE 74 64 -6 (138)*
2 2 Anirban LAHIRI 66 72 -6 (138)*
11 3 C. MUNIYAPPA 67 73 -4 (140)*
11 6 Gaurav GHEI 68 72 -4 140
32 16 Digvijay SINGH 70 73 -1 (143)*
52 39 Firoz ALI 72 74 2 146
52 50 Manav JAINI 73 73 2 (146)*

***** Cut ***** 3 147
72 86 Himmat RAI 75 73 4 (148)*
86 68 Baaz MANN 74 75 5 149
134 104 Vikrant CHOPRA 76 80 12 156

Update:

Good tournament for Harmeet after a long time. Harmeet alon with Anirban and Rahil were in contention on last day but fell little short. The best score was -14 and three players achieved that with the winner being decided in the play off.
