Super performance from Jyoti .. Very exciting stuff from him to lead the pack .. And now he is in chance of creatig history at Indian Open to be first 3 time champion ... Go Jyoti.

Steady round by Gaurav helped him to be back in top 5 ... Jeev atlast managed to score under par round but tomorrow he needs 5/6 under score to finish inside top 10 ... Its achievable.

Jyoti wins Indian Open title third time and joined Peter Thomson, the five time British Open champion, who also won the Indian Open three times. (I was wrong when I mentioned yesterday Jyoti can be first player .. :tomato: )

Jyoti wins title by 3 strokes ... Jeev atlast managed round in 60s that helped him to move inside top-15 ... Good results for Indians as Rahil finished on 3rd position, so that means our 2 players in top 3, 5 players in top 10 and 7 players inside top 15 ... :D

Excellent job by Jyoti to win this title 3rd time. Jyoti played confidently through out the 4th round. The most exiting feature of his 4th round was an eagle on the par 4 16th hole. (Report)
Randhawa was on cruise mode for most of the round, turning in 35 for a two-shot lead. But Chang, playing some of his best golf in years, narrowed the gap to one with a birdie on 17, only to see Randhawa respond in the best possible manner when he sensationally holed out an eight iron from 171 yards for a stunning eagle on the par four 16th, the toughest hole all week.
---
After splitting the fairway on 16 with another exquisite tee shot, the Indian amazingly holed out his second shot which raised the roof at the Delhi course.

“I was aiming four to five yards right of the hole and trying to draw the ball towards the pin. I drew it perfectly and it just went into the hole. I couldn’t have dreamt it better, finishing in the cup,” said Randhawa, who celebrated with several fist pumps to the cheers of the large galleries.

“I didn’t want to go into the 18th hole with a one-shot lead. I wanted to get a birdie somewhere. I was playing easy early on but on the 16th, I got aggressive. Boy, what a way to get aggressive,” said Randhawa, who earned a cheque of US$79,250 and also a place in the HSBC Champions in Shanghai next month.
Thats a nice bonus to get a place in HSBC. The first two days Jyoti was not in his elements as it took some time to adjust back in his home golf course. But boy! Once he settled down, he played like a lion.
A day before, after the 3rd round Jyoti said (see The Telegraph Report)
“I think it was my day. Coming from Europe, I was little jetlagged but now I’m more at home here,” Randhawa said.

“I wanted to be within two-three shots off the lead before going into the final round on Sunday. I’m very happy to be tied for the top slot and that gives you a good chance on the final day,” Randhawa said.
Asked what would be his plan, Randhawa said: “It will remain the same. I have to maintain my focus, play shot by shot and forget about everything else.”

Randhawa is very much aware that he has an uphill task against Chapchai on Sunday.

“He is a fine striker and has a good swing. He is definitely a player to watch out for and can become one of the greats. Golf is a game that develops with age… I think I now know how to win tournaments. I have learnt a lot in the past few years and I have learnt a lot from my mistakes,” he said.

Yes, that is true. The current positions of Indians in the Order of merit is given below. Note that top 60 gets automatic 2008 card. SSP is uncomfortably too close to the cut line. He should be careful. Jeev and Jyoti and Ghei already have card for being winner  on the tour in last two years, as well as for being the past OOM winner for the first two players. Shiv Kapur and Rahil are comfortably placed to secure the 2008 card.

Congratulations to Jyoti for a standout performance in the Indian Open. Retaining his title is a wonderful achievement, as is the fact that this is third Indian Open title. It was also good to see Jeev finally put it all together in the final round (and importantly, being there itself was a good token of commitment to Indian golf).
Nice also to see that the Indian Open golf was covered very extensively in the Indian newspapers.

Today second round has been suspended for the day due to darkness ... Digvijay Singh produced superb 6 under round to remian in the contention ... Now he is just shy of lead by a stroke and on a sole 4th position.

But today Taipei's Wei-chih Lu had stolen the limelight with record breaking 10 under round.

At Indonesia President Invitational - Second Round

4    Digvijay SINGH    67 66 -11
T11  Harmeet KAHLON    66  E - 6  after 3 holes
T27  Gaganjeet BHULLAR 70 -2 - 4  after 6* holes
T40  Naman DAWAR       73 68 - 3
T40  Arjun SINGH       70 -1 - 3  after 6* holes
T63  Gurbaaz MANN      67 76 - 1
T63  Vikrant CHOPRA    70 73 - 1
-------- Projected cutline - 1 --------
T79  Amandeep JOHL     74 70  E
T79  Firoz ALI         71 +1  E   after 12* holes
T79  Vivek BHANDARI    75 -3  E   after 9 holes
T93  Chiragh KUMAR     72 74 + 2
T104 Uttam Singh MUNDY 74 74 + 4

Seven players seems to be making the cut while Firoz Ali and Vivek Bhandari still have a chance to make it. Nice to see Digvijay contending here.

106 98  Uttam Singh MUNDY    74 74      +4 (148)*
129 98  Amardip MALIK        74 79      +9 (153)*

Excellent round of 62 i.e. 8 under par by Gaganjeet Bhullar  :notworthy: I hope he repeats this again in the third round. So even after 2nd round, three Indians of the remaining 5 are in top 10. Digvijay is just 1 stroke behind the leaders while Gaganjeet and Harmeet are just 1 further stroke behind. I hope they continue to challege the field and remain in contention and one of them finally wins. If any Indian wins, it will be his first win in Asian tour.

Felt sad that only 5 Indians remain after second round ... Gurbaaz must be cursing his luck and game, after first round he was in top 10.

Today third round suspended due to lightning ... Good to see Indians r still in the contention for the title ... Harmeet is a stroke behind the leaders and Gaganjeet is 2 strokes behind ... Until now best Indian round by Arjun Singh, currently he is 4 under and find himself in top 10 ... :) But Digvijay is struggling and he is 2 over after playing 11 holes ... Hopefully today's break help him to bring back his best game tomorrow morning.

At Indonesia President Invitational - Third Round

T3  Harmeet KAHLON    66 68 -2  -12  after 12 holes
T6  Gaganjeet BHULLAR 70 64 -1  -11  after 12 holes
T8  Arjun SINGH      70 68 -4  -10  after 17 holes
T11 Digvijay SINGH    67 66 +2  - 9  after 11 holes
T52 Naman DAWAR      73 68 +1  - 2  after 15* holes

Although only  5 Indians are there but they are represent Inda very well in top 15.
and
WATCH OUT FOR GAGANJEET BHULLAR!!

I'm saying it little early, but may be in few more hours we will have a new Asian tour winner. Go Gaganjeet!!! Gaganjeet is currently leading the field at -16 after 4 holes, one stroke ahead of Anthony Kang and two strokes ahead of 3rd placed Harmeet Kahlon. I'm excited. In PGATOUR Dan is looking good for his first win and here in Asian tour too Two Indians are in contention.

Hera are the scores after completion of 3rd round. After 8 under par 62 in 2nd round, Gagan put up another good performance in 5 under 67 3rd round that took him to the top spot share along with Anthony KANG. Once again there were 3 Indians in top 10 and 4th Indian Digvijay singh (12th) just outside top 10.

1  7  Gaganjeet BHULLAR    70 64 67   -15 (201)
6  7  Harmeet KAHLON       66 68 70   -12 (204)
10 18  Arjun SINGH          70 68 67   -11 (205)
12  5  Digvijay SINGH       67 66 74    -9 (207)
45 48  Naman DAWAR          73 68 72    -3 (213)*

Here is the competition at the top that our guys are facing:

1  1  Anthony KANG     67 65 69   -15 (201)
3  1  Lee WESTWOOD     67 65 70   -14 (202)
4 10  Prom MEESAWAT    65 70 68   -13 (203)
4  7  HUR In-hoi       65 69 69   -13 (203)

Interestingly, three Indians have in top 10 in all three rounds so far and Indians are taking turn to take lead the Indian contingent :) First day it was  Harmeet KAHLON at T4th position just one stroke behind the three joint leaders, while  Gurbaaz MANN and Digvijay SINGH were a further stroke behind at T6th. Second day it was the turn of Digvijay SINGH to lead the Indians to go to the T5th position just one stroke behind four joint leaders, while Harmeet KAHLON and Gaganjeet BHULLAR were one stroke further behind at T7 position. And now after the third round Gaganjeet took the top spot while Harmeet was 3 strokes behind at T6 and Arjun Singh entering the top 10 at T10 for the first time. And now the last round is going with Gaganjeet and Harmeet fighting out the rest of the field for top honors. Go Indians!!  woohoo

Here is a short report for the 3rd round
Jakarta October 28: Indian rookie Gaganjeet Bhullar struck four birdies on his return to the third round for the joint lead alongside American Anthony Kang at the Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational early on Sunday.

Bhullar, with 10 amateur wins on the domestic circuit, returned on the 13th fairway with a birdie and chalked up three more birdies on the 15th, 17th and 18th holes for a five-under-par 67 at the Damai Indah Golf – BSD Course. He was tied alongside Kang who returned on the 11th hole as he birdied the 16th and 18th holes for a 67 and a 15-under-par 201 total.

Ryder Cup star Lee Westwood continued his third round performance on the 12th hole with two solid birdie putts on the 14th and 18th holes and completed his round with a 70 in lone third position a stroke behind in the US$350,000 Asian Tour event.

Bhullar, who turned pro in 2006, is eager to tee off the final round and better his third round performance where he shot a total of six birdies against a lone dropped shot.

“I’m excited to tee off the final round. It’s been a great week for me so far and I’ve been enjoying the ride. I’ve watched Lee Westwood on the television when I was young and now I’m ahead of him. It’s a nice feeling,” said Bhullar.
