How come we haven't had any posts on Indian open with it just a week away. Here is a nice article on The Tribune.

The Indian fairway

Though the says "The Indian fairway", it is more about Jeev Milkha Singh

PS. Bold names of those players who r more regular on the tour.

55 Indians r in the field of 144 golfers .. :D So u can imagine tedious job of accumulating this list ... ;)

Good start for Gaurav and Gurbaaz, who r in 6 leaders pack ... Ashok Kumar and SSP r 2 strokes behind ... Decent start for defending champion Jyoti, who managed 2 under round but so-so start for Jeev who is even after first round ... But most shocking score is of experianced Amandeep Johl, from his round it looks that he is still struggling with his injury.

Not memorable start for Joseph Chakola, who is debuting on professional tour.

Thanks Jaydeep. Little surprising and disappointing to see Jeev way down with only par round. Jyoti, who is defending champion, also must be disappointed with a start of -2. I expected to see both Jeev and Jyoti in at least top 10 or within two-three strokes from the leader. Hopefully, both will go for a good round tomorrow to get near the top.
Good job by Gurbaaz, Ghei, SSP and Ashok. Hopefully these guys will carry on the momentum deep into this tournament.

Interestingly, there are 6 players tied at the top -6, but there is no player at -5.

OOPS! I thought I'll save Jaydeep some time from compiling these results, but we were doing this at the same time.

25 Indian golfers out of 55 make the cut ... 5 Indians in to 10 but they still to do lots of hardwork to catch top 3, leaders r at -11.

Jyoti entered into top 10 but still 6 shots behind the leader.

Jeev barely made the cut ... Today he sccored 3 double bogeys, 2 bogey and 6 birdies ... :damn: But after making bogey on 17th hole he fought back with making important birdie on 18 to make cut.

PS. Thanks Ajay ... :)

Jaydeep, check how I compiled the results using table to get the proper formatting. This may be faster way to do it. First copy the results in excel as it allows to cut and paste a column.

Caddie turned golfer, Shamim Khan leads the Indian pack of 35 players who made the cut. Unheralded Shamim surprised the top fgolfers and international stars as he took advantage of plying on his own backyard. The likes of  Thaworn WIRATCHANT, the 9 time winner on Asian circuit and ex-Asian Order of Merit winner, bite the dust as they failed to make the cut. Jeev Milkha singh, the last year Asian Order of Merit, barely made the cut.

The first round leader, Gurbaaz and Ghei were disappointing in the second round. Although Jyoti is still in top 10, but he hasn't yet returned an exiting round. If he or any other Indian in top 10 has to win, they need to get at least 6 to 7 under round today. Third round is on and I hope some Indian will do some magic today. That's what we are waiting for. Go Indians!!

Super stuff from Jyoti today.
The defending champion has put himself in a position where he can defend his title...
-5 for the day to move to 10 under and currently tied 1st with 5-6 golfers in play.
Gaurav also did well and is currently tied 4th.
Good luck guys. Look forward to an Indian triumph at our National Open.
