Tough luck for Jeev considering leading tournament 3 days and began last round with 3 strokes lead ... So with this 2nd place finish he equaled his best result on Japanese tour.

At Asahiryokuken Yomiuri Memorial - Final Standing

2 Jeev Milkha Singh 66 65 67 73 -17  ¥10,000,000

The Hindu(printed version) has reported that Jeev injured his wrist during the fourth round and that was the reason for his "poor" round.

Apparently, his wrist was bothering him -- especially towards the end of the round:

But really commendable stuff for 7 rounds this week and last. In fact the eight round was very good until the very last hole...

2006 JPGA: Dunlop Phoenix- Shiv Kapur

Post by ajay »

Shiv Kapur had a good start in Japan as he finished first round at even par in a difficult course. Shiv is T12. The leader is Shingo Katayama who shot 5 under, while Tiger Woods, Harington are 3 under and T3. C'mon Shiv! Continue the good work.

Another good round can push Shiv into top 10.
In such a high class field that will be credible.

But, I still wonder why he didnt choose to play in Singapore and have a go at the Order of Merit title or help his cause in getting some money towards 2008 EPGA card.....

Shiv heard Kumar's distress call and responded with a -3 on the back nine. He finished at +1 for the tournament and that was good enough for a T13 finish. While it is not the top 10 finish we wanted, it was  a good showing on the JPGA tour. Woods and Harrington finished tied at -9 under. Padraig Harrington has been declared the winner (was there a playoff?).

Superb performance by Shiv in a very tough field that had so many PGA and European stars.

Nice to see Shiv regaining his form as he gets ready to defend his title in December

2006 JPGA: Casio World Open - Jeev Milkha Singh

Post by ajay »

Jeev, who is in pursuit of WR50 by year end comes back to Japan for Casio Open starting tomorrow. A win here can bring him quiet close to his target. In the last tournament that he played here in Japan, Jeev after leading first 3 days, narrowly missed the title by one stroke and came second all by himself. With his current form, he should be one of the favorite to win. Go Jeev!!

Guess who is at the top of the leaderboard at the end of round 1 of the Casio World Open being played in Kochi (Japan, not Kerala)?

T1 Jeev Milkha Singh, Azuma Yano and Tetsuya Haraguchi at -6

101 Michelle Wie at +9
