On 3rd day, no Indian except Jeev could post a number in red. Jeev was -1 for today and all others were over par. But the good news is that all the Indians improved their positions in the leaderboard. All six of them are in the top half.
The two top players in the tournament, Ernie and Adam Scott justify their positions by being tied at the top.

1 6 Adam SCOTT    70 69 66   -8 (205)  (winner after a playoff)
2 1 Ernie ELS    71 65 69   -8 (205)
3 4 Brad KENNEDY    71 67 70   -5 (208)
4 10 LIANG Wen-chong    73 68 68   -4 (209)
5 6 Shiv KAPUR    70 69 72   -2 (211)  $123,000.00
6 10 Anthony KANG    70 71 71   -1 (212)
6 19 Prom MEESAWAT    72 70 70   -1 (212)
8 10 Jyoti RANDHAWA    68 73 72   E (213)  $63,600.00
19 26 S.S.P. CHOWRASIA    72 71 73   +3 (216)  $33,800.00
19 10 Arjun SINGH    74 67 75   +3 (216)  $33,800.00
25 51 Jeev Milkha SINGH    71 76 70   +4 (217)  $28,350.00
25 40 Gaurav GHEI    74 71 72   +4 (217)  $28,350.00

Re: 2006 AsianTour: Pulai Springs Malaysian Masters

Phew, what a lead the two leaders have over the rest!! I suppose they are demonstrating they are a cut above the rest. Good to see Shiv Kapur staying in the hunt, with Jyoti just a bit behind. By the way, these are results from the Barclays Singapore Open. (The title of the thread still says Pulai Springs Malaysian Masters; in that tournament last week, Jyoti Randhawa finished a creditable 3rd, although he had been leading until the final stages).

Last day play was abandoned because of thunderstorm. Ernile Els and Adam Scott, who were tied together at the end of third day, played a play off to decide the winner and Scott beat Els on the  last playoff hole. So the final positions remain as shown tow posts above. Good tournament for Shiv

Today also Rahil scored 1 under to remain inside top 30 after 2nd round ... Other hand Amandeep had terrible round of 4 over, so with 5 over after 2 rounds he missed the cut.

T27 Rahil GANGJEE (IND)  70  70  -2
-------- Cut @ +2 ----------

Superb result for Rahil. He finished ahead of two times US Open Champ Retief Goosen. This is his best result this season and it should give him lot of confidence. I still remeber when Rahil won his first title as a rookie in  Asian tour. He looked a very bright prospect. Hopefully, he'll leve to that that potential.

Some quotes from the final day report:
Gangjee, who won the 2004 Volkswagen Masters – China, turned on the heat in the final round with five birdies after 15 holes but he endured a sluggish finish when he dropped a shot at the 17th hole. The ball then found the water on the 18th hole for his second bogey of the day.

“I’m very happy because it is my best finish this season on the Asian Tour. But I am unhappy with my bogeys on the last two holes. I am satisfied with my game and hope to get more top fives and maybe even a win soon,” said Gangjee.

:damn:SSP Chawrasia disqualified by organisers for "failing to sign his scorecard".
He shot a 67 today and was -13 leading by 5 from Rahil.
Surely he would have won or atleast finished in top 3.
But, what a disaster for SSPC. Cant believe why they have such silly rules in Golf.
If someone forgot to sign, he can always be called and reminded of the mistake.
Its not such an offence to be thrown out. Remember Harrington having the same fate when leading a tournament going into the final day..........feel sorry for SSPC.....

Very unfortunate.  :damn:
Its not everyday that you have a 5 stroke lead going into 3rd day. No one was near him. What could have been his best moment of his career so far, has become his worst moment.
Hopefully, looking at +ve side, he showd what he is capable of. Hopefully, he will repeat thsi type of performance and get a win soon in Asian tour.

Rahil played steadily and keeps the INdian flag high. Go Rahil! Win it for SSP and for yourself.

1  Rahil GANGJEE (IND)  66  70    136  -8
21  Amandeep JOHL (IND)  72  71    143 -1

30  Digvijay SINGH (IND)  73  72    145  +1
30  Harmeet KAHLON (IND)  74  71    145  +1
*****CUT*****  (+2)
60  Gurbaaz MANN (IND)  73  76    149  +5
60  Arjun SINGH (IND)  75  74    149  +5

Gaurav Ghei pips Rahil Ganjee and wins the Mercuries Taiwan Masters

Gaurav had a fabulous fourth round of six under par to win the Taiwan Masters. One must
feel sorry for SSP Chowrasia who would have won the tournament with par rounds in
the last two rounds. Rahil continues to show good form. Gaurav Ghei moves up to 10th on
the money list while Rahil is now at 18.

Results

1  Gaurav GHEI (IND)  -10  $100,000.00
2 Rahil GANGJEE (IND)   -9 $60,000.00
3 Ted OH (KOR)           -6 $35,000.00

16  Shiv KAPUR (IND)    +1  $5,750.00
16 Amandeep JOHL (IND)  +1   $5,750.00
26  Digvijay SINGH (IND)    +3    $4,450.00
50  Harmeet KAHLON (IND) +12    $2,750.00

What an excellent result!  We have a winnerrrrrrr! Two Indias, Gaurav Ghei and Rahil Gangjee occupying first two spots. Ghei proved it that his resurgence is for real. He finished in a style and a worthy winner. This is his second tournament win, the first win came in the inaugral year of the Asian tour way back in 1995.

Yes Suresh, one feels sorry for SSP. He could have his first win and we could have seen three Indians at the top. I hope SSP comes back strongly with more determination after this tragic episode.

Rahil must be little disappointed as he led two days and then lost by one stroke. Rahil is also looking for his second win in the tour and the way he is playing, it must be very near in the future.

Here is a report.
“It’s been 11 years since I won and the way I played in the last two days without dropping a shot, it is just fantastic. This is all going to take a while to sink in,” said Ghei, who made a giant leap to 10th place on the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit.
“I had a great start and was five under on the front and I told myself to play well and keep it on the fairway. It’s been a crazy week. My thoughts go out to S.S.P (S.S.P Chowrasia) but at the same time I’m very happy to have won after a long time.

“The key hole for me is probably the par save at the 10th hole. I struck it of the tee and the ball landed in the bunker around six feet away from the pin. The second shot was awesome as the ball landed right next to the cup and I putted for par,” he added.

With the win, Ghei has booked his spot for the HSBC Champions tournament in November.
Overnight leader Gangjee started well with birdies at the second and fifth holes but he stumbled with a dropped shot at the seventh hole. After carding another bogey on the 14th hole, Gangjee gave chase and ended his run with a birdie at the final 18th hole.

“I didn’t expect to finish in second place as I was gunning for the top spot. But I never really charged. I started off good but then endured poor putting and was unlucky with the lie on the seventh hole and that’s not the way to win a tournament. Gaurav played really well and shooting six under on the final round, that is really good,” said Gangjee, who chalked up his best finish this season.

Amandeep Johl and Shiv Kapur missed the top 10 as they went over par on the last day with their worst rounds. But they were still in top 20. Digvijay Singh improved his position with an under par round.

2  Rahil GANGJEE (IND)  66  70  72  71  279  -9  $60,000.00
16 Shiv KAPUR (IND)  73  71  71  74  289  +1  $5,750.00
16  Amandeep JOHL (IND)  72  71  72  74  289  +1  $5,750.00
26  Digvijay SINGH (IND)  73  72  76  70  291  +3  $4,450.00
