It is always nice to hear from Swamy, and congratulations to him for finishing his book on Indian golf courses.

Indian golf is once again looking up and it will be exciting to read about the Indian golfers on the PGA, EPGA, JPGA and Asian Tours.

Thanks for the nice words. By the way, Asian Golf is going through the roof. Singapore Open has signed for US $ 3 million this year and I believe quite a few other events are raising the purses.
I get the feeling sponsors feel the scene in Europe and US is getting saturated and Asia is the growing market and golf is looking good. In fact a quick look at Asian Q-School first stage shows so many Americans and Aussies flocking to Asia. The final stage will see large number of Aussies and almost 10-15 Indians.
Next we wait for Royal Trophy.
Cheers.

A disappointing qualifiers for Indians is over. This week Asian tour resumes the regular tour tournaments. IMO, Asian tour goes to our neighbor Pakistan for the first time in the tour history. (will the weather permit the normal tournament? Probably, Karachi weather will be more cooperative than Lahore)

JeevMilkha Singh will lead the Indian contingent in Pakistan.

JEEV SINGH
RAHIL GANGJEE
GAURAV GHEI
HARMEET KAHLON
AMANDEEP JOHL
ARJUN SINGH
DIGVIJAY SINGH
UTTAM SINGH MUNDY
JAIVEER VIRK
GURBAAZ MANN
AMRITINDER SINGH
S.S.P CHOWRASIA
HARINDER GUPTA
RAHUL GANAPATHY
A.S. LEHAL
KANWAR SEKHON
ASHOK KUMAR
SUJJAN SINGH
NAMAN DAWAR
VIVEK BHANDARI
ROHTAS SINGH
VIKRANT CHOPRA
JAIDEEP PATWARDHAN

WOW!! Look at the number of indians participating in this tournament. Almost two dozen Indians.
Go Indians!!! At least one of them get a victory on the Pakistan soil!!

Three Indians share the lead on first day with thrre others from Pakistan Wales and Australia. Jeev did his part on the first day, along with Ashok Kumar, Amandeep Johl, as they returned a card pf 4 under par. Not a bad day for India as a dozen out of 21 players are with in the projected cut. Hopefully, one of them will take the title on Sunday. Of the remaining 9, 5 players are 1 stroke behind the projected cut.
Go Indians!!!!

Indians lost the pole position in the leaderboard, but they are some Indians in the fray. After 2nd round, quite a few Indians (14 of them) made the cut. Three of then in top 10 and Digvijay Singh is just outside top 10, i.e. T11. I'm surprised that Ghei missed the cut. He was playing quite good during later phase of 2005.

The scores for the Indians and the two joint leaders are:

1 Mark MOULAND WAL 68 65 -11 (133)*
1 Chris RODGERS ENG 69 64 -11 (133)*

3 Amandeep JOHL IND 68 67 -9 -135
4 Jeev Milkha SINGH IND 68 69 -7 -137
6 Arjun SINGH IND 69 69 -6 -138
6 Ashok KUMAR IND 68 70 -6 -138
11 Digvijay SINGH IND 71 69 -4 (140)*
25 Vivek BHANDARI IND 72 70 -2 (142)*
30 Amritinder SINGH IND 69 74 -1 -143
30 Rahil GANGJEE IND 72 71 -1 (143)*
46 Harinder GUPTA IND 73 72 1 -145
46 Harmeet KAHLON IND 75 70 1 (145)*
57 Amit DUBE IND 73 73 2 -146
61 Gurbaaz MANN IND 75 72 3 -147
61 S.S.P. CHOWRASIA IND 70 77 3 (147)*
61 P.S. GULERIA IND 77 70 3 (147)*

*********** CUT (+3) **********************
73 Vikrant CHOPRA IND 73 75 4 (148)*
73 Gaurav GHEI IND 75 73 4 (148)*
73 Jaiveer VIRK IND 75 73 4 (148)*
94 Kanwar SEKHON IND 76 74 6 (150)*
107 Sujjan SINGH IND 75 77 8 -152
107 Jaideep PATWARDHAN IND 79 73 8 -152
124 Sandy LEHAL IND 77 79 12 -156

After 3rd day, Jeev, Amandeep Johl, Ashok Kumar are still hanging on to top 5 positions as all of them are tied 4th. While Digvijay Singh is T10th. But the leader has opend up a big lead for the Indians. For any Indian to win, not only on of the trio at T4 must play a uperb round, but he would also need help from the current leader hoping that the leader play a bad round .
