Dinesh Chand (-6 od 17) and Gaurav Ghei(-5 of 13) have started the event with a hot putter :bounce:
At the time of writing they take the top two positions on the leaderboard. Go guys!!!

Amandeep (-3 of 13)
Rahil Gangjee (par /final)
Arjun Singh (+1 of 12)
Jeev (+1 of 2)

Update
Looking at Gaurav Ghei's card, it seems it was displayed incorrectly earlier, where one of his bogey was shown as a birdie. That's a difference of 2 strokes! So he was -3 of 13 earlier, and he finally finished at -2. Amandeep Johl also finished at -2.

1 Dinesh Chand (-6 / Final)
T8 Gaurav Ghei (-2 / Final)
T8 Amandeep (-2 / Final)
T26 Rahil Gangjee (par /final)
T26 Jeev (par of 9)
T47 Shiv Kapur (+1 of 6)
T97 Arjun Singh (+3 of 12)

The first round scores:

1 Dinesh Chand (-6 )
T9 Gaurav Ghei (-2 )
T9 Amandeep (-2 )
T26 Rahil Gangjee (par )
T26 Jeev (par )
T42 Shiv Kapur (+1)
T74 Arjun Singh (+3 )
T123 Harmeet Kahlon (+8)

Shiv was quite inconsistent today with 7 bogies, 1 eagle and 4 birdies. After a high last week, it may be difficult for Shiv to motivate himself. Lets see if he can strike back tomorrow.

Ed. Harmeet name was missing, which is now added. Ajay

It is possible that Shiv's inconsistency may be due to his unfamiliarity with the Japanese golf courses. Time will tell.

Well he has made some progress today ....he has shot 2 under after 14 holes and is at tied 22nd position along with Jeev who has one hole left.....

Arjun Singh will have to pull up his socks in the second round to avoid missing the cut..
Thongchai had a bad 1st round and aint going grt guns in the second..he might miss the cut along with the promising youngster Andrew Buckle who is at 7 over par

There is also a Japanese woman in the fray who is playing on sponsor's invite...UNfortunately she had a poor first round and may not be able to make the cut.

Sridhar, where are you getting your scores?

I am looking at Japanese website and it still shows shiv kapur at 12th hole and jeev on 14th.. but through 11 holes shiv was on fire scoring -5 and tied for 5th position (-4 for tournament)...
http://www.jgto.org/jgto/WG02020000Init ... 54&round=4

Based on your post, he seems to have lost 2 strokes in 3 holes continuing his misery on front nine from yesterday...

Edited: Now the website shows that Jeev birdied the 14th hole and Kapur pars 12th...

Sridhar if you are getting scores from same website, there is a possibility that you saw Shiv -2 through 14* Which actually means that Shiv kapur is on 15th hole but he started on back nine.. Similarly Jeev may have been also -2 through 17* meaning that he is on 18th hole, after starting on back 9..

Sridhar, please see my explanations in my previous post before yours..

Shiv is on fire!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: and is -5 for the tournament, while Jeev is -5 for the tournament after three straight birdies... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: woohoo woohoo woohoo

Sridhar, A small clarification for you... I am sure you are probably aware of this.. but just in case... Usually in the first two rounds, there are four groups of golfers (each group comprising of many threesomes) .. One group starts on front nine and second group start on back nine.. Third and fourth group starts after the first two groups complete their rounds ...

yaa,
knew that....was jus puzzled that the scoreboard showed the hole on which the player had last played rather than the total number of holes played by them ...Thnaks to ur clarification i shall take back the curses i had let loose on the people managing the website :-)

Sridhar asked:

I do not know when the Chand family moved from India to Fiji, and it is possible that he may be similar to Vijay – a third generation person or so.

Dinesh Chand has an interesting background. He looked up to Vijay Singh when he was growing up, and often ran away from school at about 10-12 years of age to watch Vijay practice golf. Vijay gave him a sand wedge to hit the balls, and in return he would fetch the golf balls of Vijay. He got some golf lessons from Vijay while he would occasionally caddy for the future world #1. Vijay moved on from Fiji to Asia and Europe, and Dinesh was left without a mentor. He would caddy for the Japanese tourists vacationing in Fiji and picked up Japanese language, but worked on his golf game to win the Fijian Championship. A Japanese restaurant owner in Fiji was impressed with the long drives of Dinesh and helped him to move to Japan at age of 19 years. He turned pro at 19 years but did not have the Tour card to play on the Japan PGA. He lived near a small golf course in Japan and did odd jobs at the golf course, and used his spare time to improve his game. He finally earned the Japan PGA Tour card after trying for five years and then went on to win tournaments in Japan. Dinesh was known for his long errant drives until he met Vijay Singh again, who asked him to tone down on his drives and focus more on getting the ball on the fairways. His goal is to play on the PGA Tour. According to Vijay Singh, Dinesh Chand speaks better Japanese language than the Japanese!

A resourceful person, indeed.

This tournament does count towards the Asian Tour order of merit right??

According to the schedule theres no special mark against this event which may have indicated it wont be taken into account...

If it is then jus by way of the amount it offers then i suspect it is more fruitful for the players then even the volvo masters which offered 600k while this offers 830k

A Small tip.. if you had clicked on his score, it would have taken you to his hole by hole card and that would tell you everything you need to know..

http://www.jgto.org/jgto/WG05020401Roun ... erCd=15222

Yesterday Shiv had 33 putts through 18 holes, while today he has 18 putts through 14 holes...

Jeev had 27 yesterday and has 23 through 17 holes.. wow !! pretty impressive..

I would like to know the lengths of the one putts..
