Terrific round of golf when so many good players struggled on the day. He had 9 birdies and just one bogey....

Amazing comeback from Shubhankar in the last 27 holes after being 5 over par after his first 9 holes.

He is still in the lead in the European Order of Merit and already has more points than the person who finished 60th last year (which is the qualification for their year end championship). Right now, staying in near the top of the European tour does open some doors for him, although I think his WR will climb soon to a point that it will open the same doors for him.

That was a course record in second round! Very well done! Yes, that's an amazing comeback from Shubhankar after slacking in the first nine holes on day 1. Probably his exploits from last week WGC let him put his guards down and then he woke up!

Disappointing not to see too many Indians up on the leaderboard in the home tournament.

It is a co-sanctioned European tour event and the field is stronger than the last 3 events on the tour with 7 players in the top 100 so not that surprising to see fewer Indians on the leaderboard.

While going through the list, I noticed an Indian sounding name called Julian Suri who is ranked #70 in the world. Went up 1179 spots in 9 months last year. He seems to be a direct descendant of Buchi Babu and the son of tennis playing Jagan Suri.

It's one of the most difficult golf courses in the world.

Shubhankar continues to show his mettle. It was tough day for everyone with very few sub par rounds. It seems Shubhankar was doing great in managing the course until the bad bounce on 17 resulted in a double bogey. But he still managed a par round and finished on a high note with a closing birdie on 18th.

I hope Lahiri gets his mojo back and these two consistently challenge the best in the world in big tournaments.

Great focus by Shubhankar to lead going into the final round in a second consecutive tournament. Hopefully, he'll bring home the title this time.

Anirban does seem to be in a minor slump as he typically does well in Asia even when he is struggling in the US.

Bit worrying to see him collapse on the final day for a second week running - T9 and T7 after leading going into the final round.

I would chalk this to a good learning experience for Shubhankar. He played safe in the WGC, and saw others shoot by him. This time he went for it and shot 6 birdies but unfortunately had 3 double bogeys and a few bogies to finish poorly. He'll need to find the right blend of mixing aggression with playing safe on some holes to get the best results. Meanwhile, another top 10 finish is a pretty good result overall.

Tad disappointing because Shubhankar was in a great position at the start of the final day. But overall still a good show finishing T7 in European tour event.
So he continues to lead both European tour Race to Dubai ranking and Asian tour rankings for the year.

Shubhankar needs to figure out how to hold his nerve in the final round, especially when he is in serious contention. The 7-point difference between him and the winner Matt Wallace was entirely attributable to Subhankar's disastrous final round of 74 (versus Wallace's 67).
