The winner of Hero Indian Open will be decided by the playoff between Anirban Lahiri & SSP Chawrasia, as both of them have tied for the top postion.

Earlier in the day SSP carded a disastrous 5 over par round, while Anirban had 2 under round which lead them to tie for the top position.
Indian Open will finally see an Indian winner after 2009  .

Anirban Lahiri wins the Hero Indian Open :bounce:

Anirban Lahiri is the second Indian to record multiple victories in the same European Tour season, following Jeev Milkha Singh in 2006 at the Volvo China Open (April 2006) and Volvo Masters.

This is the 11th Indian victory in European Tour history.

Nice to see Anirban consolidate his position as the top Indian. One has to feel sorry for SSP as it was his for the taking.

SSP didn't deserve to win the title with a '5 over par' on the final day.
Well played Lahiri with a 2 under on the final day under very windy conditions. Congrtulations  Lahiri is a very humble person too.

1.Lahiri -7 73 65 70 69 € 217,399
2. SSP -7 65 67 69 76 € 144,927

What a topsy-turvy day of golf in Delhi today. In a very tough day of golf, when all other were giving up strokes, Anirban not only held his ground, but made progress and caught up with SSP to make the playoff. Three days of great golf by SSP gave him a big margin over the whole field except overnight 2nd placed Siddikur. That margin came very handy today as even after playing a 5 over round, he still remained at the top albeit jointly with Anirban. Given the form displayed by Anirban today, it was quite predictable and Anirban was overwhelming favorite to win the playoff against SSP. Anirban deserved to win today.

Anirban overcame a deficit of 5 strokes to win a paycheck of $500,000 in Malaysia, and now two weeks later he overcomes a deficit of 7 strokes and win another handsome paycheck of $250,000. Anirban has also moved to second spot in European tour Race to Dubai rankings. Its hard to believe that just three months back he was playing qualifying tournament to earn playing rights for the European tour. On Monday when the world rankings will be updated, Anirban will be very close to Jeev Milkha Singh's Indian record ranking of 29. It's just awesome. :notworthy:

Check out Anirban's account of the final day's play in this Video link.

Fantastic month for Anirban Lahiri who seems to have a really fluid and natural swing. Of course, golf is a mental sport (perhaps more so than most other sports) and he seems to play his best in the final round which augurs well for the future. Here's hoping for more magic in the rest of the year!

18 year old Shubhankar Sharma also finished in the top-20 and is one to watch out for in the future....

Anirban moves to 34 as the climb now is steep and he will move slowly unlike when you are ranked in 3 or 4 digits. Another career high. Has a one week break and than he will be in US to play the WGC-Cadillac starting 05 March. Hope he carries this form there and competes well in a very strong field. :goodluck: Anirban

Great stuff from Anirban, who I think is now assured an invite to the Masters at Augusta.

SSP Chawrasia is playing at the Joburg Open which is also a part of The Open Qualifying Series and the top three players who are not already exempt will qualify for the Open event.

SSP has finished his Round 1 with a score of 6 over par and is currently at the bottom of the Leader board.

Shiv Kapur has jumped 37 places to T13 after Round 3 in Morocco.

Shiv maintained 6-under over the first 8 holes, bogeyed three over the next six and finished birdie-birdie in the third round of Trophee Hassan II.
