What an opportunity wasted by Arjun.
He was in the last group and a decent round of 2 or 3 under would have lifted him close to getting his card....
Now just one event remains and he needs to finish in top 3 to have any chance....else play the qualies...

The only PGA and Asian tour co-sanctioned CIMB Classic tournament is going on in Kualalumpur. The field is restricted to only 48 players with 36 coming from PGA tour and led by none other but Tiger Woods, and 12 players from Asian tour. With only 12 Asian tour players, only two Indians made it thru - Gaganjeet Bhullar and Anirban Lahiri.

Bhullar made a great start as he finished 1st round at T5 with a score of -6, 2 strokes behind the sole leader Troy Matteson and one stroke ahead of Tiger Woods. Bhullar was also the best Asian tour player on day 1. Lahiri finished at even par and placed T38.

C'mon Bhullar, now build on this great start!

1 Troy Matteson 63 -8 (63)
2 Jeff Overton 64 -7 (64)
2 Brian Harman 64 -7 (64)
2 Robert Garrigus 64 -7 (64)
5 Gaganjeet Bhullar 65 -6 (65)
...
7 Tiger Woods 66 -5 (66)
...
38 Anirban Lahiri 71 E (71)

Decent effort after a long time, although Arjun let himself down in that final round -- after a spectacular second round of 63 that had taken him to the top of the leader-board at the halfway stage.

Second day and it seems Lahiri and Bhullar almost traded their rounds, as Bhullar came away with one over par score (which is not good here) while Lahiri sizzled with his putter as he had blemish free round with 5 birdies. So both of them are tied in the middle of the pack at T23 with -5 for the tournament. The leader Robert Garrigus with two rounds of 7 under 64 is sitting way far at -14 and two strokes better than the nearest rival Kruger. Tiger Woods is 5 strokes behind the leader at -9 and he is currently T5.

Pos Started Name R1 R2 to_par (Agg)
1 2 Robert Garrigus 64 64 -14 (128)
2 7 Jbe' Kruger 66 64 -12 (130)
3 1 Troy Matteson 63 69 -10 (132)
3 7 Greg Chalmers 66 66 -10 (132)
5 7 Tiger Woods 66 67 -9 (133)
...
23 38 Anirban Lahiri 71 66 -5 (137)
23 5 Gaganjeet Bhullar 65 72 -5 (137)
23 42 Thaworn Wiratchant 72 65 -5 (137)

Gaganjeet Bhullar had an excellent third round of 65 to surge to T10 (alongwith Tiger Woods, who had a 69 to slip from T5 at the end of the previous day).

Anirban Lahiri slipped slightly to T25.

Leaderboard looks much better with Bhullar just coming back into top 10. If he finishes in top 10, I think he is ready for PGA tour. However, the road to PGA tour is not straightforward. If Lahiri can shoot a 65 in last round, he may also make it to top 10.

But what a round by defending champion Bo Van Pelt. But for a last hole gaffe with double bogie, he was unstoppable with 11 birdies in 17 holes. Now sharing lead at the top, will he defend his title? Tiger Woods was doing great but ended last three holes with +3

1 11 Bo Van Pelt 70 65 62 -16 (197)
1 1 Robert Garrigus 64 64 69 -16 (197)
3 11 Chris Kirk 69 66 63 -15 (198)
4 2 Jbe' Kruger 66 64 69 -14 (199)
4 5 Brendon de Jonge 68 65 66 -14 (199)
...
10 8 Ben Crane 68 66 68 -11 (202)
10 23 Gaganjeet Bhullar 65 72 65 -11 (202)
10 5 Tiger Woods 66 67 69 -11 (202)
10 5 Kevin Na 67 66 69 -11 (202)
...
25 23 Thaworn Wiratchant 72 65 68 -8 (205)
25 23 Anirban Lahiri 71 66 68 -8 (205)
25 3 Troy Matteson 63 69 73 -8 (205)

India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar strengthened his credentials as one of the rising stars of Asian golf as he logged a top-10 finish at the $6.1 million CIMB Classic here on Sunday.
Full Report
The 24-year-old outgunned some of the leading PGA Tour stars including 2010 CIMB Classic winner Ben Crane, Jeff Overton, runner-up here last year, and world number nine Jason Dufner....
Bhullar’s resilient attitude and sharp shooting game earned him praise from first round partner and CIMB Classic runner-up Robert Garrigus, who called the young Indian “a phenomenal player.”

“Definitely it inspires you. Robert, he's a star on the PGA Tour. I've seen him so many times playing well on television, and it was good to pair up with him,” said Bhullar, who is currently fifth on the Order of Merit.

“You know, it really gives you a sense of achievement that you have played well, and it's basically a reward for your hard work. Yeah, he gave me a lot of positive feedback. He said your game is ready for the PGA Tour, it's just a matter of time. I'm going to heed that advice, and looking forward to moving to the next level.”
Another report

Great job and a nice pay check to Bhullar and Lahiri. Both did quite well in this tough field.

Good to see the young golfers Gaganjeet Bhullar and Anirban Lahiri continue to make progress, and holding their own in this tough field. Bhullar's top-10 finish was excellent stuff!

With the PGA Tour ending last week, both Arjun and Daniel lost their cards
by not managing to finish in top 125 of the money list.

So it's qualifiers time for both.
Luckily, both qualified today to play the Final Qualifying Event at the end of this month.
They did so by finishing in Top 19 at the second stage qualifying event, which finished today.
Arjun finished T7 and Daniel T10.
Anirban Lahiri missed out after a bad last round.
So good luck to both in the gruelling 6 round qualifiers.

Arjun had a disastrous start to the final qualifying tournament, he shot a 2 over par in the first round which pushed him way down the list...However came back strongly in second round to score -8...so now after 2 rounds he is at T31 with -6....lot of work still ahead...

Daniel Chopra on the other hand is T5 with -10...

how many qualify ?

Atwal continues to have poor days following a good day, after 4th round he is at T110...seems like an uphill task from now on to qualify...

Need a superb round today to keep the hopes alive...

Daniel chopra after a good start has slipped as well, he is at T69
