2011 European Tour

Post by Prem »

We will have less representation in 2011 European Tour, which starts on 9th December.
Jyoti & SSPC have lost their Tour cards, unless they play the qualies and win it back.
So we will only have Shiv & Jeev in 2011.
Most likely Shiv will play the events in South Africa starting on 9th Dec as he did very well last year and even finished 2nd in one of the events there.
Jeev will start with the Desert swing towards end of Jan-11.

Bujulover - I am not wrong...SSPC did loose his Europen Tour card.
But since he finished between 115-150, he will get very few starts in lesser events.
Since the first 2 events are in RSA, very few top European players will make the journey and hence SSPC will get 2 starts and after that he will probably get in in some of the Asian Tour co-sponsored events....and few other events in Russia etc..
As such he has lost his card, which would have given him starts in most events except a very few high profile events....

Round 2 is not over yet.It is suspended and will be continued tomorrow. Jeev still has 7 more holes to play. Shiv has the best R2 score of -7 so far.Jyoti is in danger of missing cut,Bhullar might just make the cut. SSP with a solid R2 performance is T12.

Sujjan Singh is T8 with -6 and has 9 more to play in R2.Rashid Khan is also doing good,-3 with 2 more to play in R2 and T27.

11 SINGH Jeev Milkha (IND) -8 68 67 70 75 280 € 29,412

This is his 2nd European tour victory after 2008 Indian masters. After two disappointing seasons, SSP lost his European tour card and also failed to Qualify thru the Q stage. With this win,he secures card for next 2 seasons on the European tour. Disappointing finish by Jeev, going into the final round he was in contention but a +3 final round ended his chances.Little-known chandigarh golfer Sujjan Singh finished in top-5, and 5 Indians in top-15. This has been the best tournament for India in a long time.

Great job by SSP. I hope this would be the next turning point in his career. It is amazing what he has already achieved his life when you see his humble beginning. But he is 32 and he has time to go further higher in his career. With some experience of playing in Europe behind, hopefully, he'll achieve more glory.

Its good to see that once again we'll see three players (Jeev, Shiv, and SSP) regularly in Europe. India golf needs more star. We need younger players to take over the mantle of Indian golf from Jeev, Arjun, and Jyoti. We don't even have any player in top 100 right now. I hope the likes of Bhullar and SSP will take the next step in their golf and bring more glory for India

Very true, Ajay ... Really happy for SSP, deserving winner with his consistent performance in this the Avantha Masters ... British Robert Coles hit perfect tee-shot on 18th and all commentators were talking about big chance of putting birdie to win title but that wasn't the case and he scored bogey to hand SSP his 2nd European title win.
