Re: 2010 Nationwide Tour - Arjun to play when he cant play P

Post by arjun2761 »

Daniel Chopra won the Fresh Express classic on the Nationwide tour when the final round was cancelled due to the weather. Daniel was a deserving winner as he had a 3 stroke lead at the end of the 3rd round in which he had a sensational 9 under par score of 61.

Congrats to Daniel!!

Nationwide Tour is always a better bet at honing your skills and for attaining a PGA tour full membership. Recently read an academic paper on how effective the two different Qualification systems for PGA tour (Q school Vs Nationwide tour) are.

It used to be that only 10 people (top 10 in the money list) qualified from Nationwide tour around 1996 onwards. While 40 people used to qualify thru Q school. By 2011, this has changed dramatically to 25 people from Nationwide tour, the other 25 from Q school!! PGA tour increased the quota 3 times, 5 slots extra at a time, over the past 15 years.

The success rate, as measured by a player obtaining full privileges on PGA tour at the end of his rookie season (data from 1996 to 2006):
Q school: 32%
Nationwide: 45%

i.e) you identify better talent through Nationwide tour than thru Q school. BTW, Steele, last week's PGA tour winner is a rookie from Nationwide tour.

Yes, but currently Rahil is struggling with adjusting fast American golf courses ... He is lying in 96th position after 10 tournaments ... Need couple of wins to finish inside top 25.
