Re: 2010 PGA Tour
Arjun takes advantage of the Sponsors expemtion, courtesy of his friend Tiger and is currently on top of the leaderboard.
Playing on a Major Medical Extension this season, Atwal has eight events to earn just over $586,000. So far, he’s earned just over $305,000 with this event and the RBC Canadian Open to go.
Atwal wasn’t even in the field for the AT&T National until he got a sponsor’s exemption from the tournament’s host, Tiger Woods, who he routinely practices with.
The two were practicing at home at Isleworth and Atwal was telling Woods his plans to play the John Deere Classic and in Canada when Woods asked why he wasn’t playing here. When one of the sponsor’s exemptions came back — they’d all already been handed out — it went to Atwal
But for his 3 bogeys, he would have been sole leader as he had 7 birdies !!!
Good luck for the week and hope AA can somehow retain his card, for which needs a top 3 finish.

Re: 2010 PGA Tour
Thanks, Prem, for that lovely nugget about the help Arjun got from his friend Tiger Woods. Sad, though, that he couldn't capitalize on his terrific start (a problem that Arjun has often encountered in his PGA career). Decent result for him overall (despite the horrible last day), and also good to see Vijay and Daniel gradually regaining some of their form.

Nice to see both Shiv Kapur and Jeev Milkha Singh taking part in the Reno-Tahoe PGA tournament. Kapur shot a +1 (73) and Singh shot a even par (72). Both are in good position to make the cut after Round 1.

Re: 2010 PGA Tour
First the good news. Jeev played a good round of -3 and currently T17. At 3 under, he is 5 strokes behind the leader. He is looking good for a top 10 this week. Go Jeev.
Now for the bad news. Shiv Kapur and Daniel Chopra both missed the cut. Shiv Kapur had an albatross in his score card on the par 5 9th hole, however a series of bogeys (7 bogeys today) in the back 9 destroyed his chances

Re: 2010 PGA Tour
Jeev had a disastrous weekend at the Renoe-Tahoe Open, finishing the tournament a lowly T55 with a 5-over par score, after rounds of 75 and 77 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. A most forgettable tournament for our gang...

Re: 2010 PGA Tour
Jeev finished T54 on 3-under par. Arjun made the cut, but was not allowed to continue beyond the third round under a rule that limits the field to those finishing closest to the top-70, so his status is MDF (he earned prize money, but wasn't allowed to play the final round, alongwith four others). An explanation is here:

Re: 2010 PGA Tour
I thought Atwal lost his card? If not, I wonder if he is playing this week due to a sponsor's exemption.

Re: 2010 PGA Tour
Jeev scored birdie on last hole to finished on T61 with 6 under after third round ... Arjun made another bogey and that take him down to T47 with 7 under on the day of lot many below par rounds ... Lot of players scored 6 under and below round on third day but our players failed to take advantage of easy playing course.
