Great start by Shiv Kapur. In the front nine, from 2nd hole onward he sank 6 birdies in a stretch. But he slowed down and the back nine had a pair of bogeys and birdies to finish at -6.

However, its only one round. To get in serious contention, he need another such round. :goodluck:

Some quotes from European tour report.
Shiv Kapur fired six successive birdies to set the standard in the first round of the Czech Open 2010 but Peter Hanson is just one stroke back as the Swede tries to strengthen his Ryder Cup aspirations.

Kapur made his burst from the second to seventh holes to establish gain the early initiative at Prosper Golf Resort in Čeladná and, although he began the back nine with two bogeys in a row, birdies on the 16th and 18th helped him card a six under par 66 to set the pace.

“I was six under through my first seven holes so it would have been nice to have added some birdies on the back nine. But golfers are never happy,” said Kapur.

“The course is fantastic and the greens are absolutely brilliant. They are rolling beautifully in spite of the rain.

“I've never grown up on courses like this - I did on flat courses - but it suits my game as it is not a course that rewards long hitters.”

The 28 year old Indian, who lost in a play-off to Richie Ramsay in the South African Open Championship earlier this season, boasts a one shot cushion over Argentinean Tano Goya, whose 67 included six birdies and a bogey, and Ryder Cup hopeful Hanson.

As it happens most of the time, the excitement of an outstanding round is marred by the following not so good round. In Shiv Kapur's case, the second round was a poor effort of +2 (3 bogeys and 1 birdie). It still barely kept him in top 10 (T9) in the leader board at -4, however, another ordinary round and he will not be seen even in top 20.

The leader is at -8. He need at least a repeat of first round (6 under) in 3rd round to get back in contention. C'mon Shiv!

Congratulations to Jyoti. Golf is one sport where Indians are doing rather well, and actually getting better. Thank goodness no real sports administrative organization is required.

Not a single one could make the cut. I wonder how long these Indian golfers will be able to hold on to their tour cards except one golfer Arjun Atwal.

Jeev will have a European card, courtesy of his wins in the past but he is struggling to retain his PGA card.
Shiv should be able to retain his card with 1 good result....
Jyoti and SSPC are struggling to keep their cards in Europe, unless they come up with some strong finishes in the few remaining events...

Shiv put that right in round 2.
He had a blistering round of 6 under (the best so far)..with 6 birdies and no drop shots.
It has moved him into Top 30 (currently).
Hopefully he will have a similar round tomorrow to move into the top 10 range and be in contention...
