A nice day in office for Arjun Atwal. He has played 17 holes so far in 2nd round and he has climbed to second spot!  :)
In 16 holes Arjun got 6 birdies and one bogey. Five under is very good effort and equal to the best of the day on this difficult course, which is currently playing over par. Only 10 players have broken par for two rounds. This should give a lot of confidence to Arjun.
Go Arjun!! Go for a victory!!

The scores:
POS  PLAYER  RND  THRU  TOT
1 Dunlap,S -2 F -7
2 Atwal,A -5 17 -5
T3 Bates,B +1 F -3
T3 Klauk,J +3 F -3
T3 Smith,C E F -3
6 Lunde,B E F -2

Update: Did I jinx him?  :tomato: Arjun made a bogey on last hole. But still 4 under very good effort and second best of the day. He still remains in sole 2nd spot and a contender.

Good to see Arjun competitive in the first tournament of the Nationwide Tour. He is still sole 2nd at the end of the second round, three strokes behind the leader Scott Dunlap.
Certainly well positioned to challenge for the title over the weekend. The key will be to stay consistent.

3 under par for Arjun in 11 holes makes him the sole leader by one stroke  :D Overnight leader Scott Dunlap has slipped badly wit 5 over in 11 holes. Best round of the day so far is -4.

Arjun Atwal is the 54-hole leader at Movistar Panama Championship in Panama City.  In windy difficult conditions, Atwal fired 5 birdies to  card a third round score of 2-under-par 68.  He leads Chris Smith by one stroke.

Good luck Atwal.

FANTASTIC!!! Great to see Arjun continuing his superb form, and take the sole lead at the end of the third day. Fabulous start to the year, and I hope he finishes the job in style on Sunday by taking the title.

It turns out this is the first time Arjun is leading after 54 holes in a tournament since 2003...:

Arjun Atwal started off with a birdie on the first hole, but four bogeys (5th, 6th, 7th and 9th holes) later, he is at +3 for the day and tied for first place with two other golfers.  It is time for him to string together a few birdies and win the championship.

Scott Dunlap (-4) birdies the par-four 15th hole and takes sole possession of the lead.  Arjun (-3) and Chris Smith (-3) are in second place.  Arjun has five holes left to make up ground and take the lead.

Addendum:

Arjun made a bogey on the 15th hole and it dropped him to -2.  Scott Dunlap (-4) is currently in first place amd Chris Smith (-3) is in second.  Come on Arjun.

Addendum:

Chris Smith made a bogey on the 16th hole and drops to -2 and is now in a three-way tie for second place with Atwal and Jekk Klauk.  Atwal has two holes left to play and has to make up two strokes and two birdies or an eagle can do it if Dunlap makes par on 18th hole.

Addendum:

Arjun made a par on the par-three 17th hole and Dunlap is still playing the last and 18th hole.   Arjun will need an eagle on par-four 18th hole to tie Dunlap unless the latter makes a bogey.

Addendum:

Dunlap made a bogey on 18th hole and Arjun is one stroke behind and all he needs is a birdie and not an eagle to tie for first place.   Come on Arjun, you can do it.

Addendum:

Atwal makes a par on 18th hole.

Atwal has just one hole.. Eagle or birdie (with Dunlap's bogey) to take it to play off..

Arjun came up short with a par on 18th hole.. This means that Arjun will be joint 2nd...Good news is that he is sharing 2nd place with only one person.. so more money to his kitty.

Movistar Panama Championship:

Arjun Atwal finished tied with Jeff Klauk for second place and lost the title to Scott Dunlap by one stroke.  Arjun might be disappointed with the lost chance to win since he was the 54-hole leader, but he should feel happy that his game is looking up in 2008.
