Re: FedEx Cup
Well, despite the missed cut, Daniel will play next week when the field gets down to 120 players in the FedEx cup playoff. Tiger will make his first appearance in the playoffs - at 4th place (after leading the standings pretty much throughout this season!)
Unfortunate that K.J. Choi could only manage a second place finish and a lead of 2900 points over Tiger. that is, Tiger has to finish in the Top-3 to catch up with Choi. As for catching up with Stricker, he needs to be placed in top -2.
Oh, BTW, Rory Sabbatini has a lead of 650 points over Tiger. That should be interesting when Tiger is back next week....
Also, as an observation: There were just 2 players who managed to move into the top-120 this week and hence qualify for next week's playoff tournament. There were 3 players who moved into the top 70 bracket and just 1 player into the top 30 standings....
cheers

Re: FedEx Cup
Well, Tiger did what he does best. Gave a fantastic performance despite a first round score of +1 and finished Tied 2 for a 3733 point gain in his first playoff appearance. Of course, that was only enough to move him from 4th to 3rd place in the FedEx standings. Phil with nearly 5000 points over him, is the leader now. Steve Stricker with a T9 finish (2nd on FedEx points) has really consolidated his position at the top.kujoku wrote: Unfortunate that K.J. Last day's performance by the golfers looked like a major championship was at stake, everyone was nervous and making mistakes (including Phil).
What now? Tiger is pretty good and he will give you a fight in next two playoff tournaments. But all the same, it is incredibly hard to win the 10 Million bonus payout, unless you win atleast one of the playoff tournaments!!
following info from PGA web site:
With K.J. Choi withdrawing after first round last week, Phil not playing this week, and Tiger playing this week, things will be interesting in BMW championship starting this Thursday (Sep 6).But after dispatching of Woods, Mickelson said he might not play next week outside Chicago at the BMW Championship.
cheers

Re: FedEx Cup
I am not sure what is wrong with Vijay Singh's golf game these days and he has not produced the type of results that he is capable of. I followed him for quite a bit from close quarters at the PGA Championship and he did not appear to be ill or nursing an injury. His putting was off in Tulsa, but that is nothing new for Vijay. He usually makes up for his poor putting with solid iron play.
Vijay Singh continues to struggle today with an even par after 15 holes. He started off with three birdies in the first 5 holes (back nine) and then made three bogeys on the next four holes. Currently he is tied for 55th place out of 69 golfers.

Re: FedEx Cup
And Tiger does exactly that!! He won the BMW championship (3rd of 4 event Fedex cup playoffs) and puts a 3100 point distance between himself and second place Stricker. Stricker had fantastic opportunity to finish higher than 3rd place this week, but dropped couple of strokes from 19 under, before recovering to finish at 18 under. Phil, ofcourse didn't play this week and is at 3rd place - about 4100 points behind Tiger.kujoku wrote:

Theoretically, anyone in the top 5 (includes Rory and Choi) can win the FedEx cup next week. Realistically, one of the top 3 (Tiger, Stricker, Phil) will win it!
