first field report from the Booz allen classic

Post by radbcc »

thanks doc and jaydeep.

i was having a drink last night at my local watering hole. i should tell you that i live about 100 yards from the front gate of congressional country club. as i was leaving, guess who walks in. the big easy- ernie els. ernie walked into the pub with his caddy. I shook his hand and wished him luck in the tourney. I have seen ernie before (especially during his us open win in 97 at congressional). but, i want to tell you he is a big boy. I am 6'2" 205lbs and he made me look small and he has a bold handshake. i wish i could have stayed and bought the big easy a drink.

Ernie and Vijay are both gentle giants. They look bigger in real life than on TV.

Guess what!!!!??? I'm not a huge fan, but I'm starting to getmore into the game, and start playing. I won a promotion from a local radio station today by being the 9th caller and won 3 free tickets to the Booz Allen classic. It's gonna be nice to attend my first golf tournament and meet Vijay, and Daniel, etc!

WIll try to take some pics for the forumers!

Arun, since this will be the first golf tournament that you will attend, here is a good link to read.

thanks sharmaji, pretty good tips in there, ill keep it in mind! do most people normally stay there the whole day or just a few hours? I'm going to be getting vip treatment apparently. free vip parking pass, access to their main dining area, a free ride for me and my friends on the goodyear blimp during the round, so it should be fun.

unfortunately, i just read on the booz allen website that no cameras are allowed! how stupid is that? i was looking forward to getting pictures with Vijay and Daniel.

I wonder if Daniel knows about this forum!

This message is from Bhushan who happens to be Arun's best and dearest friend. (Hint, hint, hint :D )

Your choice. Some people stay for the whole day and some will head home after watching one session (morning or afternoon).
a free ride for me and my friends on the goodyear blimp during the round
I would go on the goodyear blimp, if I were you. I once went on a glider when the cricket test match between India and England in Kanpur got boring.
I wonder if Daniel knows about this forum!
He checks out the forum once in a while, and he has a link from his website to the Golf forum of Sports-India.

Radbcc and Arun,
Both of you are riding your luck. One gets to shakehand with Els and other wins free passage to the tournament. I wish your luck stays with you and you both get to see a wonderful tournament. :goodluck:

Gliding and that too in Kanpur! It brings back my memories of the golden days of IIT-Kanpur, where I learned and got my gliding pilot licence. Those were the days ...

Arun, if you get a chance to meet VJ, you should probably tell him about our forum (not sure if he knows)!!!. There is a great field at Booz with 8 of top 10 in world in attendance..So it should be lot of fun.. By the way are these free tickets for all four days or just one day?

Bhushan, shouldn't we have this discussion in PGA tournaments thread?
