Anirban finished at #21 in the we.com tour Finals.... This list also includes a few players from the regular season Top-25. Considering all that Anirban would probably be around #40 in the combined priority list....

:goodluck: for 2016 PGA tour....

Anirban is 2nd after the third round, but 3 shots behind the leader Hend Scott.

Chiragh Kumar is 3rd, one stroke back, and Rashid Khan is T4 a further stroke back!

After achieving his personal best WR #33 (Mar 28th), Lahiri slipped to WR#61 (July 19th) . But some recent good performance has brought him back to his near personal best. He now has WR # 37.
He is playing his first official PGA tournament, CIMB Classic this week for which he'll earn Fedex points. CIMB Classic is jointly hosted by Asian tour and PGA tour. A good performance (top 5) can probably take him to a new personal best. Goodluck Anirban!

Anirban Lahiri will play in the Hero World Golf Challenge to be held between December 2 and 6, becoming the first Indian to feature in the prestigious PGA tour-sanctioned tournament, hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation.

After last week's T6 finish in the 'DEAN & DELUCA Invitational' on the PGA Tour, Anirban is #88 in the Fedex Cup rankings and #55 in the World rankings...

So his ranking moved up one spot. Needs to win or finish in the top 3 a few times to push his ranking back up into the top 40. Or go back and win a couple of events in Asia.

Point-wise, the Dean & Deluca result is Anirban's 10th best result with all the other top results being in Asia except for his Masters finish. However, with 12 cuts in 15 events, Anirban has shown that he can compete in the longer, more open courses of the PGA tour, so I hope we can see more top-10 finishes from him from here on. That should move his world ranking up without having to go back to Asia other than for events he plans to go anyway for logistics, vacation, sponsorship reasons etc.

Yes, Anirban is probably India's best-ever golfer (with the best finish ever in a major, T5 at last year's PGA championship) -- just ahead of Jeev Milkha Singh, who was the pioneer of this generation, and finished T9 once at the Masters, but didn't ever quite make it on the PGA tour. Jeev was superb on the EPGA tour in his prime, winning the year-end tournament there one year at Valderama, and also being a star presence on the JPGA for many years.

While I have said for a few years that Anirban will be India's best ever player, he is not there yet.

In fact, the major finish is the only thing he has on Jeev. Anirban still has a lower career best ranking, is still to win outside Asia (Jeev won thrice in Europe including the Volvo Masters) and has never led a big tournament (Jeev has led both a major and a WGC).

And that's considering how much tougher it was for Jeev, Arjun and Jyoti to break through. There is an argument to be made that until Anirban wins outside Asia, even Arjun ranks higher than him as the first Indian to win on the PGA tour AND on the European tour.

A pity Anirban did not qualify for the Master's at Augusta this year. He had finished 49th on his first attempt in 2015 and did slightly better to finish 42nd last year. Let's hope he has a better 12 months so that his ranking returns to levels that will enable him to play the Master's in 2018.

Yes, that's a good start for Anirban at the RBC Heritage event in Hilton Head, SC. It's good for T-5 and only 2 shots behind the leader.
