Talking of the contest, where are the results? I also vote that we accept Arvind's picks since he just came out of a time warp :-)

How to beat Capablanca

How to beat Capablanca

This is a title of a paper that appeared on the mathematics e-print arxiv. It is available at the
URL: http://arxiv.org/abs/math.NT/0606252 .

Author: Thotsaporn Thanatipanonda

Abstract
This paper shows the fastest way to force a win with rook and king against king on an m*n board. In the classical case, this gives a faster win than what Capablanca suggested in his book 'Chess Fundamentals'.

I hope you enjoy the paper.

An interesting article about chess player who got tips from the phone (banned for ten years)
An Indian chess player has been banned for 10 years for cheating after he was caught using his mobile phone's wireless device to win games, chess officials said on Wednesday.

The player, Umakant Sharma, had logged rating points at a rapid pace in the last 18 months and also qualified for the national championship, arousing the suspicion of officials and bemusing rivals.
