Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)
I think US has flexed its muscles because of its enormous reach and clout. The US is trying to control world anti-doping through its Act, if we go by reports.I think they should stick to their anti-doping and allow WADA to monitor the rest. Doping will go on. Just because of a threat no one is going to stop doping in Olympics. Retests will still reveal, years later, there were dopers. That's only because of scientific advancement rather than any laxity on the part of laboratories doing tests at that particular time of the Olympics. The US doesn't even test its athletes in NCAA or the Leagues. World champions emerge from NCAA.

Gomathi lost her appeal at CAS. Gave PSOS and an aborted pregnancy as possible reasons for the spike of nandrolone. Both were rejected by the lone arbitrator.
These arguments were surprising since she did not give these at the time of first hearing.
One of the leading woman 400m runners had been caught this season, but the name is not yet out. She is part of the national camp since the substance (methylhexaneamine) does not attract a provisional suspension. There is no attempt apparently to get on with the hearing in time for the proposed training camp in Europe. The women's 4x400 team looks in disarray at the moment.
Hima Das not able to run 400m, Anjali Devi apparently injured; Jisna Mathew and V. K. Vismaya not having run a race this season, the others well below standards expected. India is very much in contention for the Olympic qualification as per its position in ranking list (15th, 16 teams to compete).

Nowadays, many terbutaline offences in India get away with a 'reprimand'.
Wonder any Indian diver had received a suspension in the past.

I do not recall any.
On another note, slightly old news, but I do not recall if anyone has posted this. Weightlifter Rakhi Halder, kabaddi player Ajay Thakur, racewalkers, etc. caught doping.

Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)
Yes, these names appeared in recent weeks though nothing was posted here.
There is no word yet, however, about the woman 400m runner who is part of the national camp and who may go abroad with the rest of the Olympic team soon in case the federation gets a European base without the hassles of quarantine etc.
India is yet to ensure qualification in the women's 4x400 though we are likely to make it without a better timing. But, the effort has to be to aim for a better timing to get up from the 15th slot among "Road to Tokyo" contenders (16 will make it).
If NADA steps up testing even at this stage, some more top athletes could be caught, but it looks doubtful they would do it with the Olympics just under 70 days to go (if it happens).

Another embarrassment like last Olympics. At least he was not a medal prospect.

Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)
And that comes with a hefty fine of Rs. 16 lakhs.
Here is some good news. Vijay Singh is innocent. The DNA analysis showed it is someone else's sample.
NADA is totally incompetent. It should be banned and WADA should take over and some of these babus who created this mess should be fined instead and jailed if it is shown that someone was careless or worse complicit in switching samples.
On another note, Perovskites doped and achieved improved performance.

What do you expect anybody named NADA to do? Nada, none, diddly nothing. Now, is WADA better? Better than Idly, I mean diddly, so better than Nada.

Another embarrassment for NADA! They sent a DCO to Bangalore to test Bopanna. Apparently all the way from Delhi. If not the "whereabouts" info of Bopanna, they could have Googled to find he was in Paris.

Maybe the job requirement for a NADA position said that you have to be a certified moron to apply. The idiot got a free Bengaluru trip instead of a Paris trip. Must be a certified moron.

Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)
I heard that the toughest one is the Danish Anti Doping Agency (DADA) !!
The Singapore Anti Doping Agency is just flat and has nothing in it (SADA) !
Apparently the sound that he made when he found out that Bops was in Paris was high pitched and whiny! NADA-swaram!
