According to a news report
Nine Olympic slots in the men's section and six in women's category are up for grabs in this tournament.
Not sure how valid this is....

Per Wikipedia, only 2 slots each in Men and Women. 9 seems to be very high number

Comprehensive victory for Sharath in 4 straight games against Andrew Baggaley.

ACHANTA Sharath Kamal (IND) d. BAGGALEY Andrew (ENG) 12-10, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7

Amalraj has also won his game in 4 straight games against Vladislav Sorbalo.

ANTHONY Amalraj (IND) d. SORBALO Vladislav (MDA) 11-7, 11-9, 11-5, 11-9

In all probability, both of them are through to the 2nd stage now...
If Amalraj can win his final group game tomorrow, he will be seeded 2nd in the Stage II knock-out draw...

Poulomi Ghatak has all but assured herself a place in the 2nd stage, barring any surprises.....

She won both her group games y'day..., first with a spectacular win against 5th seeded Oxana in 6 games... and next against the host country's Noora in 4 straight games...

FADEEVA Oxana (RUS) l. GHATAK Poulomi (IND) 7-11, 8-11, 9-11, 11-6, 13-11, 5-11

GHATAK Poulomi (IND) d. AL-ABRI Noora (QAT) 11-3, 11-2, 11-2, 11-8

However, Shamimi Kumaresan didn't have much luck against the 8th seed in her first group match, losing it in an incredibly close finish in the 7th game..., but came back strongly with a 4-0 win later in the evening to keep her chances alive..

FEHER Gabriela (SRB) d. KUMARESAN Shamini (IND) 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 13-15, 11-9, 11-13, 11-9

KUMARESAN Shamini (IND) d. MOHAMED Aia (QAT) 11-8, 11-5, 11-4, 11-4

Shamini again lost very close match(3 - 4), so couldn't progress to stage 2.

Poulomi Ghatak lost 4 -2 in stage 2 knockout, so her olympic dreams are over.

Sharat and Amulraj stage 2 are slatted for tomorrow

Disappointing show by the Indian paddlers in the final Olympic qualification tournament :-(

One bad game and the whole tournament was ruined for Sharath. For what it is worth, he won the 17-32 draw and is placed 17th...

India needs Sarath's replacement. Amulraj is just spark, won't be that effective.

Time to take junior players in to fold and develop them. They had nice outing in junior world cup ?!

Article on 2 Indian table tennis players who will be representing India at the Olympics -

Ghosh and Ankita looking to exceed expectations

Nice to see that couple of 19 year olds will be going there. At least it will be good exposure for them for future with no chances of medals in this sport.

Achanta Sharath Kamal is shifting his base to Dusseldorf after playing in the German table tennis league ... He is getting chance of training with German national team as their sparring partner.

Sharath hopes to gain from German stint
“After the tournaments in India, I will be training with the German national team. I can practice with them for free as I will be their sparring partner. It’s a win-win situation as I will be up against some of the best players in the world.”

The training will be for almost six to seven months. Besides, I’ll be playing some weekend international tournaments where I will be representing India. But I won’t be playing for any club this season,” said the Indian who is ranked 73 in the world. “I am also planning to train for the Rio Games 2016. It will be a four-year-plan.”

There is some good news at Japan where Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai on Friday became the first Indian paddlers to reach the men`s doubles quarterfinals of a Super Series tournament. They have beaten Swedish duo of Kristain Karlsson and Mattias Karlsson 11-8 2-11 11-6 9-11 11-9 in an pre-quarterfinal battle.

This is Soumyajit first super series appearance and he won the first round after beating Maharu Yoshimura (49) in a seven game duel, lost to Chien-An Chen of Taipei 11-9 3-11 12-14 4-11 4-11 to exit from the second round.
