Re: Indian Table Tennis Thread ...
Indian men and women are putting up a good show so far in the world team table tennis championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia .
Both of them are playing in second division which is for the places 25-48. Mens team have so far won all but 1 of the matches while women have won all.
These are their results –
Men
Group stage
INDIA d. VIETNAM 3-0
INDIA d. TURKEY 3-0
INDIA l. NIGERIA 0-3
INDIA d. SWITZERLAND 3-0
INDIA d. SLOVAK REPUBLIC 3-0
Finished second in the group behind Nigeria.
Knock out stage (for places 25-36)
INDIA d. HUNGARY 3-1
INDIA d. NIGERIA 3-1
Excellent win over Nigeria whom we lost to in the group stage to make it to the play off for 25-28 places where we will play Egypt in first round. A win in that match will take us to 25-26 play off which I think means promotion to division I in the next world championships.

Re: Indian Table Tennis Thread ...
Wow. excellent work by both of our table tennis teams.
In men, Achnata Sharath Kamal won 2 matches to offset Soumyajeet Ghosh's loss against Egyptian no.1 .
In women, we came back from 0-2 down. After losses by our top 2 players, Manika Batra and Mouma Das in the first 2 matches, our no.3 Shamini Kumaresan won a crucial match and then Manika amd Mouma came back to win against same players whom the other players had lost in the first matches.
7 out of 8 wins for our men and 7 out of 7 for our women. That is very good even in division 2 and they deserve the promotion to division 1.

Re: Indian Table Tennis Thread ...
This is the report on the achievements of out TT team-
Sharath leads India back to Championship Division
Sharath leads India back to Championship Division
Both men and women play their division 2 finals today. The MVP of the day was undoubtedly World No 69 A Sharath Kamal, who won all four of his matches. Gone were the signs of the hamstring injury that felled him in May last year. In two pressure rubbers, Sharath thrashed No 37 Quadri Aruna of Nigeria 3-1 and followed it up by ousting No 33 Omas Assar of Egypt 3-0.
“Before the event began, Sharath told me that come what may, he would not relent till we made the championship division. After we won the tie against Egypt, he collapsed on the floor in tears. That’s how much it means to him! But team events are never one-man shows and both the men’s and women’s outfits have done exceedingly well,

Re: Indian Table Tennis Thread ...
Wow! Great results from both our men and women. Congratulations on making it to the next level. I wish more of our players played regularly on the European circuit like Sharath Kamal. That would increase our average level and help us stay in the top group.
