Other Indian archer in mens compound Abhishek Verma lost in R32 while our only archer in womens compound, Jyoti Surekha lost in PQF.

And Rajat Chauhan beats Colombian Andres Camilo Cardona to reach the mens compound final 143-138. :D

He will be the first Indian individual medalist at the archery world championships.

Mangal Singh Champia to come up in mens recurve in R32 in just more than an hour. That will be important match from Rio qualification perspective.

Mangal Singh won 1 more match against another Spaniard in the PQF. But, he lost in the QF against a Venezualan. So, no medal. But, more importantly 1 more quota place for Rio secured.

Now, we have Rajat Chauhan in compound individual final on Saturday , Laxmi Rani Manjhi in recurve womens bronze medal match and recurve womens team in the final on Sunday.

Has Manjhi won an Olympic quota? (Apologies if the question has already been answered, tried searching but was unsuccessful)

Yes, womens team by virtue of finishing in top 8 (they are in fact in final now) have assured a quota for the team and also for 3 individual competitors.

Unfortunately , mens team lost a close match against Italy in PQF and could not secure a quota for the team and individuals thru team eliminations. A bit unfortunate that they drew Italy ( who have made the final) in PQF. But, that is because of their poor performances in qualifying. The team will have another chance to qualify in the final team qualification tournaments sometime next year if they finish among top 3 teams who have not yet qualified. We qualified in the same manner last time in mens recurve.

Rajat Chauhan lost to the 3 time world champion Demmark's Stephan Hansen 144-147 in the final to settle for silver. Still , a great performance by him to become first individual medalist for us at world championships.

Hope we get one more tomorrow when Laxmi Rani Manjhi squares up for womens individual recurve against a Korean and hoping for first ever gold when our women team fights for womens recurve final against Russia.

Our womens team frittered away a golden opportunity win a gold at a world championships when they blew away a 4-0 lead to lose 4-5 against Russia in the final today.

[F] India l. Russia 4-5 (56-54) (54-53) (52-56) (50-54) (27-28)

Our no. 3 player Rimil Buriuly was bit of weak link as she shot a few 7's when under pressure which did the damage for us.

Disappointment in team eliminations.

Only compound mens team made it to the SF where they lost to USA and will fight for bronze. All other teams lost in the QF after winning their first matches.
