Frankly nowhere ... Only having an interest in Neeraj Chopra's performance, who is our only (future) hope and true world-class athlete.

I assure you that Indian officials and staff will have a prominent presence. They may even win the gold medal. We know all about athletes that is to be known.

I doubt it. . Most of them will be nowhere near the stadium. But you will definitely see them shopping, sightseeing etc.

That's the event in which they'll be the gold medal winners.

Davinder Singh Kang has become the first Indian to qualify for the final round of the javelin throw World Championships with the final throw as he sent the spear to a distance of 84.22m ... Neeraj Chopra failed to cross the automatic final round qualification mark of 83m in his three attempts with his best effort of 82.26m.

Wow, that is excellent performance by Davinder Singh Kang just when everyone expected junior world champion Neeraj Chopra to produce results. Neeraj was somewhat disappointing.

Nice story about Davinder Singh Kang, but bad luck to Neeraj Chopra. A world class coach is desperately the need of the hour.

Went to the IAAF Diamond League event today as Neeraj was in action. He had a best of 83.8 and finished at the 7th position. Bitterly disappointing to see India's best ever talent getting wasted like this (similar to Yuki) with no trainer or coach accompanying him while everybody else seem to have atleast 1 training staff with them. I guess thats typical of our country.

It was my first at an Athletics event and it was great to see the packed stadium and the atmosphere. Decided 30 mins before Neeraj's start to actually watch the event. Thankfully made it in time due to Zürich being such a small city.

Thanks for the YouTube videos, Vishnu (VReddy). It is such a pity that even an exciting world class talent like Neeraj Chopra still has no travelling coach, unlike all his competitors. Absolute travesty.

The video of Chitra PU's brilliant finishing kick in the final 100m of the 1500m final at the Asian athletics meet in Bhubaneshwar is making the rounds. Sadly, she was a massive 27 seconds behind the Asian record. And similarly, most of the other performances were way behind the Asian marks, suggesting that the competition was very low quality. (Sorry for waking up to this so late). The men's 400m winner from India (Mohammed Anas) ran it in 45.77s -- slightly worse than Milkha Singh's 1960 Olympics time of 45.6 (and well behind the Asian record of 43.93s). The 800m winner (from Kuwait) ran 1:49.47s, far behind Sriram Singh's 1:45.77s at the Montreal Olympics (1976, still the Indian record, and the Asian record until 1994). Sriram himself clocked 1:47.6s at the 1974 Teheran Asian Games. Depressing lack of progress!

The Govt has announced a list of 152 athletes under the Olympic Podium scheme (TOPS) with the latest list of 107 containing 17 track and field athletes.

Sports Minister Rajyvardhan Singh Rathore had announced a few days earlier that elite athletes would be paid a stipend of Rs 50,000 a month. Apparently the list of athletes to get stipend would be the same as the TOPs list which may mean the likes of hockey players and kabaddi players preparing for Asian Games could miss out.

I am not quite sure about the strength of the US college circuit in Athletics and his university. Others who are aware can comment of how beneficial for Tejswin.
