Re: Indian Boxing Thread
Sanjeet won in the heavyweight as well in a split decision so we have 4 in the last 16.
Unlikely that Sanjeet will progress though, he has the 2nd seeded Uzbek next.

Negi and Satish also lost; so we end up with only 4 in last 16. Amit, Kavinder and Manish all have easy draws, let's see if they can take advantage. We were always poor in heavier categories, but we need to do something for the middle weight categories. Hopefully Vikas Krishnan can get fit by the time of the Asian qualifiers.

strikes again. Our brains are an interesting thing. We have seen so many Krishnans and so few Krishans that the Krishans are always considered a "typo" by our brain that fixes it to Krishnan again and again.

And it keeps getting better for us.
In 91 kg, Sanjeet upsets second seed and reigning world bronze medalist to reach QF.

You are not the first one or the last. I had made the same mistake as had quite a few others here. Don't worry. As someone who works on linguistics, I find it fascinating.indiansportsfan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 4:38 am Thanks for the correction, I had no idea it was Krishan.

Re: Indian Boxing Thread
Kavinder Bisht makes it a perfect day for us with 4 out of 4 wins and into quarter final. A split 3-2 decision in her favour. Looks like our authorities are also keeping good relations with AIBA to be getting such spilt decisions in our favour now.
So, all 4 just 1 win away from a world championship medal. Hope we get at least 2 medals this time which will be after a long time, I think.

Wow, amazing performance by our boxers so far. Hope at least a couple make it through to win medals. It will be a real inspiration for them to go for it in Tokyo...

Re: Indian Boxing Thread
Excellent stuff from Manish in this competition.
He won the test event at the Asian Games but didn't participate in the games proper, not sure why.
