True, Jaydeep. That looks like the case. The Iranians are leading 18-13 at half time and they are looking confident.

Re: Kabaddi thread ...
Indian Kabaddi selection mess, etc. New low wrt selections for the Asian Games, court cases, etc. No wonder we are losing to Iran.
BTW, moderators, there are two Kabaddi threads, one that was the old one and one this one. Can this one be appended to the old one so that we have one thread? Thanks in advance.

KABADDI: India squad for Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023: Arjun Deshwal, Naveen, Pawan Sehrawat lead team
The event is scheduled to be held in Busan, South Korea, from June 27th to 30th, 2023.
The most successful raider of the Pro Kabaddi League, Pardeep Narwal and former India captain, Deepak Niwas Hooda, failed to make the cut in the national team.
Arjun Deshwal, MVP of PKL 9, is set to make his debut in the Indian colours as he will be carrying the offence for the side alongside Naveen Kumar.
The Asian Kabaddi Championship will also witness the return of Pawan Sehrawat, who will be back in action for the first time since October 2022 after suffering an injury.
The Indian men’s kabaddi team is the most successful side in the Asian Kabaddi Championships, winning seven gold medals in the last eight editions. The last edition was held in Gorgan, Iran, in 2017, where India beat Pakistan in the Final 36-22 to win the championship.

Re: Kabaddi Thread ...
So, Iran did not become a bigger Kabaddi power than us, like we feared a few years ago, huh?

Re: Kabaddi Thread ...
Iran is good at kabaddi, but the level at which kabaddi is played in our country is incomparable. So, it seems that Iran will remain no.2 for long time (unless Pakistan/Bangladesh do something really amazing)

Re: Kabaddi Thread ...
True, we are at a very high level, but we know how good we are at screwing up a good thing, so we really worried earlier when we suddenly lost to Iran, who was doing it with Indian coaches. Iran has always been a thorn on our side in multiple sports, so the worry was justified when they started taking kabaddi seriously. But it looks like it won't be easy for them to catch up to us for a long time.

Asian Games will be challenging, need to work on our defence: Indian Kabaddi captain Pawan Sehrawat
"I was making sure I was giving clear instructions to the new players part of the squad, especially the new raiders like Aslam Inamdar and Arjun Deshwal. As a captain, I always look to exploit the opponent's weaknesses to clinch the victory. So, for every player we had devised distinct game plans to help them optimise and maximise their effectiveness in the game," Sehrawat said during the virtual interaction.
"The Asian Games are going to be more challenging so we need to refocus and put in maximum effort during the upcoming camp so that we can dominate our opponents at the competition. Nonetheless, we will make sure we devise a game plan for each team at the tournament, we will approach each game after a lot of preparation and complete concentration," he concluded.
