Sreesanth is getting ready. There is breakdancing. Why on earth do they include such things? I suppose to appear "cool". :-) There is something called Esports. I have no clue what it is. It is not equestrian sports. There is cricket. I hope the BCCI morons will do the right thing and send strong teams.

What did my daridravasi do? I saw he was going to act in a movie with Sunny Leone. Didn't see any Asiad connection.

He is a breakdance enthusiast. See: Article. So, when I saw breakdancing and sports, I thought of him. He has sporting genes although I do not know if you need a different set for whatever sport breakdancing is. Thus, the connection.

Trials for the Asian Games 2022 (golf event) has begun in India. The 2022 Games will be the first edition in which professional golfers are allowed to compete.

Among the men, Anirban Lahiri (world no. 85) and Shubhankar Sharma (world no. 172) were guaranteed spots on the team to Hangzhou as per their world rankings, rest 2 spots will be determined from the trials. In the women's section, only one spot is on offer from the trials as two slots have been reserved for Olympian Aditi Ashok (world no. 112) and Ladies European Tour (LET) regular Tvesa Malik (world no. 323)

Trial scores:

Men:

1 Viraj Madappa (66-68)
T2 Karandeep Kochhar (69-69)
T2 Yuvraj Singh Sandhu (68-70)
4 Veer Ahlawat (66-73)
T5 Rashid Khan (68-73)
T5 Krishnav Nikhil Chopra (A, 72-69)

Women:

T1 Jahanvi Bakshi (69-69)
T1 Avani Prashanth (A, 74-64)
3 Hitaashee Bakshi (68-74)
4 Kriti Chowhan (A, 74-71)
5 Gaurika Bishnoi (74-72)

Great, does that increase our chances for team and individual medals in golf or reduces it ? I have not looked at pro rankings to see which nation has better ranked players than us but I guess Korea and Japan are really good in pros.

It will make the event competitive. South Koreans dominate the rankings, 5 out of top-10 Asian golfers are from Korea and and top 2 have already confirmed their participation for Asian Games. Anirban and Shubhankar Sharma are ranked 4th & 12th respectively and should have a good chance. I expect a strong challenge from Thai & Japanese golfers as well. Anirban Lahiri had a won team's silver medal in 2006 edition.

Women's category will be dominated by Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai golfers for sure. I expect Aditi to do well in individual event. In 2014 Games, Aditi finished T21.

We have not won any medals since 2010 and I am hoping that this time we should win at least 1 medal.

Yes, we have won team medals earlier in Asiad. I think that will be best chance again in golf. With Anirban and Shubhankar our mens team would be quite good.

Btw, why is everyone selecting the Asiad teams so much in advance ? it is still more than 4 months away.

Selecting in advance so people can enter other tournaments if they are not selected in that timeframe?

Yeah, but the objective should be the best team is selected to play for India and for that current form is quite important even if it affects scheduling of some of the players for few weeks.

Asian Games Selection Trials 2022

Viraj Madappa & Rashid Khan take the top 2 spots to join Anirban & Shubhankar in the Indian team for the 2022 Asian Games.

Rashid Khan was a silver medalist in Team's event in 2010 Guangzhou Games.

15 year old Avani Prashanth has taken the lone spot in Women's section and joins Aditi and Tvesa.

In March 2022, Avani became India's first golfer to compete and make cut in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
