Heck, if RB and Divij just can't get traction, and they just don't seem to have much now, LP would be better with one of them. The problem is that with LP's ranking, we won't make it. He needs to bring it up quite a bit. I'm not sure if he can, by next June. But with Lee, one can never say never!

Safe to say though that Mens doubles isn't an event where we can expect a medal...

:Offtopic: US sanctions on Iran are scorching its economy.Funding for sports will be the casualty.

I am not cheering this US sponsored economic crisis of middle east nation but after the 2008 high due to Bindra's Gold, India may again top Iran in terms of Olympic medal tally at Tokyo. In 2012 Iran won 7 Gold and in 2016 Iran won 3 Gold all in strength sports, 2 in Weight lifting and 1 in Wrestling. India has been almost matching the quota and quality in wrestling and we are expected to do better in Shooting.

Yes, overall Iran won 8 medals at Rio olympics ( 5 in wrestling,2 in weightlifting and 1 in Taekwondo). If we compare to recent world championships in olympic events Iran won only 3 medals in wrestling ( 1 gold by Hasan Yazadni ) and none in weighlfiting. If we take an odd medal in Taekwondo, Iran may end up at around 5 medals at Tokyo with only 1 or 2 golds. Hopefully, we will overtake them this time.

Fouaad Mirza has secured an Olympic quota in Equestrian, the official confirmation from the international body will come in Feb, which is just a formality.
So good to see him qualify after that Asian Games heroics.
Aparently the Indian Equestrian federation did not send a full team due to lack of finance.

Also, it seems Bhavani Devi is close to qualifying Fencing.

Happy to see, Indians doing well in all these lesser known Olympic sports.

Hope we soon get some good news in cycling, swimming and rowing as well.

Archery association is suspended, same with karate, due to which we wont be able to field our athletes in the upcoming South Asian Games(in those sports)
If it remains suspended, wont it affect our participation is Olympics as well?

Indian archers are participating in asian championships under World Archery flag.Although AAI is suspended, our women archers would still be eligible to secure a quota place under WA flag. And if AAI election issues are sorted out early next year by court, our archers will retain the quota under indian flag.
Meanwhile Atanu Das won a creditable bronze medal defeating 2012 olympic gold medallist korean in medal match And our mixed team(Atanu and Deepika) won bronze as well.Maybe they prefer playing under WA flag :p

So, they have reduced the medal tally to 14 but improved gold count to 2. No break-up available but I guess both golds are from shooting.

If one looks at medals in world level events in last 1 year, this tally is very much possible. Still, I am keeping my expectations at lower level. About 8-10 medals and I would be very happy about it.

Mirabai Chanu betters her national record. She is ranked 4th in the world with 2 Chinese and a Korean ahead of her. Since there will be only one participant per country her chances of getting a medal are quite bright.
