In womens team badminton QF, Sindhu beats Yamaguchi 21-19 21-18 to give us 1-0 lead. Of course we still have a mountain to climb here.

Really unlucky draw tbh. We could have beaten Thailand and Korea.

Ashwini/Sikki will need to beat world #2 pair for us to have a chance here. Or hope that Vaishnavi has improved enough in the last few months to beat a top 20 singles player.

Our women's hockey team started with an 8-0 win over Indonesia. It was a scrappy performance and we'll need to improve our finishing & PC conversions to get a medal.

Very good silver from Deepak Kumar. Ravi Kumar finished 4th.

Ravi was the highest ranked shooter in the field so certainly disappointing from him.

That said, the top 4 finishers were the top 4 in rankings.

Yes, but Chinese Hairon Yang is a defending Asian champion and world champion. So, he was expected to take gold. Ravi could have been expected to take silver. But, glad that at least Deepak took it with few brilliant shots in the end. He had a 10.9 and a 10.8 to save him from eliminations twice. He really came on very strong from 5th position in the middle of the competition to come up with a silver.

Apurvi with an Olympic level performance so far in qualifying.

Of course, she has never proven herself in the current era of elimination finals.

Yes, Apurvi qualifies comfortably for the final in second position in womens 10M air rifle. Other Indian in the fray could not reach the final. Let us see what she can do in the final this time.

Saina loses 11-21, 25-23, 16-21 against Okuhara. Good fight a loss in the end. I think we are done now here. We got a bad draw against top seeds in the QF.

You were right. Apurvi again faltered in the final and finished 5th.

Womens wrestling started and excellent result to start with. Vinesh destroys Chinese Rio bronze medalist Sun Yanan 8-2 to move to the QF.

i feel vinesh would have won medal in rio, but she was undone by unfortunate injury during play.

Probably yes, Vinesh lost against same Chinese wrestler at Rio due to injury and Chinese went on to win bronze.

Seema Tomar is thru to the womens trap final and Manavjeet Sandhu and Lakshya thru to mens trap final. I do not think much of a hope in women but hope we get at least 1 medal in mens trap.

Vinesh through to Semis with 10-0 victory margin.
