Both Sakshi Malik and Pooja Dhanda are thru to the SF as well with dominating wins so far. So, we have 3 womens SF coming up for us.

Damn, both Sakshi and Pooja lost their SF's. Pooja got outplayed 0-10 while Sakshi lost a very close one 7-8 against the same wrestler whom she had won in the last minute at Rio. This time tables were turned this time and Sakshi lost in the last minute.
Both Pooja and Sakshi will fight for the bronze. Now, let us see what Vinesh does.

Yes, Vinesh has been more dominant than Bajrang was in reaching final yesterday. Meets Japan's Yuki Irie in the final. We could have so easily had 2 in final if Sakshi had not lost in the last minute.
Trap final is starting now. 2 Indians there- Manavjeet and Lakshya.

So, after 30 shots, 2 shooters out and 2 Indians are still there. Lakshay in second place, Manavjeet in fourth.
Manavjeet out. Missed 3 out of 5 in next series which was bad. Lakshay assured of a medal.

So, 19 year old Lakshay wins the silver in mens trap ahead of 42 year old Manavjeet Sandhu who just missed out on bronze.
2 silvers in shooting today.

Sumit Malik has won his repechage match and he also would be playing for bronze medal.

India lost to South Korea in kabaddi. I guess this is the result of over confidence. A sure shot gold gone.

We lost to them in the group stages in 2014 as well before beating them in the finals. Embarrassing for Indian Kabaddi but hopefully that will be repeated.
Srikanth with a typical choke means that we are out of the team tournament for men as well.

Yes, hope we still get the mens kabaddi gold but may now have to face Iran in the semi final which will be tough.
Our mens badminton team lost 1-3 to Indonesia with only 11th ranked Prannoy winning his match against 15th ranked Jonathan Christie. 8th ranked Srikanth lost to 12th ranked Anthony Ginting in 3 games which was the key point lost. If we had won that there was chance of a win here. Satwik and Chirag did well to take a game off top ranked Indonesian pair.
My only hope for a medal in badminton is from PV Sindhu in womens singles.

Vinesh Phogat beats the Japanese Yuki Irie 6-2 to become only the first Indian women wrestler to win an Asian games gold.
Japanese are the best in the business in womens wrestling. So, this is certainly an olympic medal worthy performance by Vinesh.

Excellent job by Vinesh!!
Indian volleyball (men) beat Hong Kong 27-25, 25-22, 25-19 today. Qatar beat Maldives in the other match in our pool F. I was shocked to see that China lost to Vietnam in a barn-burner today in their pool. Whoa.
And in women's volleyball, Kerala lost to Korea badly 17-25, 11-25, 13-25 yesterday... Oh, I mean, India lost. Our volleyball team is just a Kerala team, as always. They never win anything much, but we have no problem sending them. It is only our soccer team that India decides should not be sent. I am still smarting from that boneheaded bullcrap.
