Yes, he was ranked world.no.1 in 10m a couple of months back after he won the gold and silver at 2 world cups. But, at world championships, he could not reach the final. Let's hope he motivates himself for another big effort tomorrow. The Korean world champion will be coming down hard though after today's failure.
Btw, we also have Prakash Nanjappa in 10m who is quite good. So, hopefully we will win a team medal too.

Our mens badminton team lost tamely to Korea 0-3 with Kashyap too losing his singles match in 3 games. At least expected a bit more fight.

In the morning, womens badminton team won against Macau 3-0 and they will be playing an all important QF against Thailand later today. Saina and Sindhu must win their matches and we will have to hope to sneak in 1 more win from somewhere.

Tulsi lost 12-21, 14-21 against Busanan from Thailand. Expected result with rankings of both players. It is 2-1 now and we need to win one of the doubles matches to clinch the tie. We really missing Jwala Gutta now.

Pradnya-Sikki lost the third game 16-21. :-( It is all square at 2-2.

Now, it is upto the scratch pairing of Ashwini Ponappa and PV Sindhu to deliver the goods for India.

Sindhu/Aparna win the first game 21-16....

They were leading 9-7 in the second game and let the opponents tie at 9-9, but are now leading 12-9...
14-12 now...
17-12 now..., just 4 points away...
19-14 now, just 2 more points needed...
And they win 21-17, straight sets...

Great show by Saina, Sindhu and Ashwini to assure that medal for us with a win against tough opposition.

We did not have a medal in badminton last time. So, this is an extra one in the kitty.

Well done indeed - team medals in both UC and Asian Games now.

Assured medal in squash as well
Both Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa reach the quarters of the women's singles. India are guaranteed a medal as they will face each other for the semifinal spot.

Other positive results
Saurav Ghosal beats Jordan's Alsaraj Ahmad Khaleel Ahmad of 11-2, 11-4, 11-3 to enter men's singles quarterfinals.
Indian women's tennis team beats Oman 3-0 in opener. Prarthana Gulabrao Thombare and Ankita Raina notched up wins while pairing of Natasha Marie Anne Palha and Rishika Sunkara was handed a walkover in the doubles match
Manavjit is through to the semifinals of men's trap; currently lying in tied-4th spot.

Manavjeet has not yet reached SF. He is lying at 4th place with 72 after 3 rounds of 25 which were completed today. There are still 2 rounds of 25 to be shot tomorrow. Hope, Manvajeet keeps or improves on his performance today, he should make the SF.

Mansher with 69 is at 13th place. Unfortunately, our third shooter, Kyan Chennai had a poor third round of 19 aggregating 65 in 3 rounds. But, this has pushed our team currently out of medal position. Kuwait and China are some way of us while Kazakhstan is just ahead and we are tied with Korea. If all 3 can get 2 good rounds, our guys can still push for a team bronze here.

Only other shooting event coming up tomorrow ( as I put earlier ) is 10M air pistol where Jeetu Rai & Prakash Nanjappa are aiming for a medal in individual and team events.

I do not see any other medal prospects for us tomorrow.

Other big match for us tomorrow is badminton womens SF against Korea in the evening. Korea's doubles pairs are too good for our pairs. But, their no.3 singles player is not that good and Thulasi is ranked higher than her. So, we will need 3 singles wins by Saina, Sindhu & Thualsi to win which is possible but not easy in front of strong home crowd.

We also have this tomorrow - Men's Singles Quarterfinal: Saurav Ghosal vs Iqbal Nasir (Pakistan) - #16 vs #42; Saurav should win this and guarantee a medal.

Just checked, Saurav is the best ranked Asian man. It would be good if he can win us a gold.
