Vijendar is trailing 1-4
Vijendar is trailing 3-4 after round 2. Come on Vijendar
Vijendar trailing 3-6
Vijendar trailing 3-7 . It will be one of the most remarkable turnarounds if he can win the bout from here. Looks like we have to be satisfied with Bronze here.
Vijendar lost 5-8. A good fightback in the last round but unfortunately it wasn't enough.
A fighting display from Vijendar comes to an end
We are all proud of you

Lost 5-8. I thought it was a close fight, but the Cuban was slightly faster and better. Both boxers were cautious, Vijendra more so, decent match.

Re: Beijing Olympics 2008 Discussion
The commentators in the US were praising the "Indian corner" for doing their homework and making adjustments for this fight (compared to how Vijendar was in the previous fight) .. He fought the right way, according to them.
I think the 6th punch on him was a hard one and it did force him to lose focus a bit and get punched once more for the 7th. Those two in the third round basically was what put him in a real hole.
He went up against a better, faster Cuban. No complaints. He did his best, and he can return with his head held high! Good job, Vijendar!
Now, don't waste any time with the Bollywood guys who will ask you to act in movies. Prepare for Commonwealth, Asiad and London.

Bravo Vijendar
He has put up a noteworthy fight against a seasoned opponent!
As Jay said, the third round made the difference. Did the referee award two penalty points against the Cuban for evading too long in the fourth round?
Any how One Gold and Two bronzes, all in the Individual Category, should open the eyes of the Sports Authorities to find and nurture more talents.

Re: Beijing Olympics 2008 Discussion
Our women's 4X400 relay team did a 3:28.83 which was pretty much around what was expected of them. That was enough only to finish 6th in the heats ahead of Japan at 3:30.52 ...
RUS (3:23.71), CUB (3.25.45), GBR (3.25.48) and GER (3:25.55) qualified from our heats.
From the other heat, USA (3:22.45), JAM (3:22.60), BLR (3:22.78) and NGR (3:24.10) qualified.
So, even beating our current National Record of 3.26.89 would not have been enough to qualify this time in a really strong field compared to Athens, if I am not mistaken.
Three populous countries (!), BRA, MEX and CHN finished behind us in the other pool.
So, our relay team finished 12th in the field of 16. Not terrible I guess, considering we were ranked around the 15th best team on recent timing in the world. We finished first in Asia with nearly a 2 second lead on JPN and CHN who were both ove 3:30.50

Well done Vijendar!!
Those "rakish good looks" (according to BBC) will be attractive to Bollywood for sure. Hope he is able to continue his focus on boxing till the 2012 Olympics....
