Just got information about Asian Snooker Championship ... Which will be organising in Pune at PYC Hindu Club ... :D Date is finalised and it will be start from 3rd July 2005 ... I spoke to Organisation Committee's chairman Mr. Salil Deshpande ... Already groundwork is started ... They r expecting players from 22 to 25 countries will take part ... Hotels bookings r finalised (They r booking more than 100 rooms for more than a week time in 5 stars or 4 stars hotels) ... Total budget is around Rs. 60 lakhs (6 millions) ... Sponsorship issue is already sorted out ... Co-sponsors r ready, now only they r finalising main sponsorer whose name they use in title ... It was really fun to talk with Mr. Salil Deshpande ... Very pleasent guy ... I already recieved invitation for tournament on behalf of our forum ... ;)

If India were to lose to Pakistan at billiards or snooker, it would be as much of a catastrophe for us as Pakistan losing to India at squash would be for them. (I think the latter is more likely sooner than the former!).

:damn: :damn: :damn:

The Asian Snooker Championship, which was slated to be organised by the Maharashtra State Billiards and Snooker Association at Pune next month, has been called off due to lack of sponsors. “Yes, we have been forced to call it off as we could not find a sponsor despite approaching 25 companies. It’s a shame that none has come forward to sponsor this prestigious international event,’’ said MBSA joint secretary Derek Sippy. The championship will now be held at Bangkok from July 25-31.

I m not able to contact Mr. Salil Deshpande to find out exact reasons behind this .. Becoz when last time I talked with him that time he was very confident about sponsorship and already started hotel reservations ... :(

This team was considered as underdogs ... They beat Thialand 2-1 in nail-biting final ... And with that they take revenge of their lost in the league, where they lost to Thailand 0-3 ... :bounce:
