Thanks, Jaydeep and Depleter. So, does that mean the chances of these swimmers of making it to olympics are very low unless they achieve A standard ?

Thanks depleter clarifying more. :)

Sameer, that depends upon where their current timing stand ... All places never get filled with A standard, relay members, universal quotas.

Why do we have universal quotas anyway? We should prioritize people from this planet. Martians do not need to be given quotas to participate in our games. I want to be nativist, do away with the quotas for the rest of the universe and focus only on the 3rd rock from the sun.

Timing fraud at the Uzbekistan meet. Some of the times are done via fraud.

Sajan Prakash becomes the 1st ever Indian swimmer to attain A qualifying mark for Olympics as he clocks 1:56:38 in men’s 200m butterfly at the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome. The qualification cut-off was 1:56:48.

Sri Hari Nataraj will have another go today I think. Indian officials tried hard with Rome and arranged a time trail for him alone. He missed the OQT by 0.05sec in 100m backstroke on friday.

Another NR from Sajan and this time in 200m freestyle.

I am really excited to know how these timings from both of them translate into medals next year in commonwealth and asian games.

Very impressive swim from Sajan Prakash ...
Srihari Nataraj is also very close to become second Indian to qualify with the ‘A’ standard timing.

Srihari Natraj's timings in 100M backstroke would have got him bronze at 2018 Asian games and silver at 2018 commonwealth games.

Sajan Prakash's timing 200M butterfly would have got him 4th place in 2018 Asian games and bronze at 2018 commonwealth games.

Srihari Nataraj is only 20 and his progess in last 2 years has been exceptional. So, I am more excited about him than 27 year old Sajan Prakash,

Yeah, I think Sajan already said that this is his last chance. So, last olympics. Hope he stays till next year and win some medal, as people in general point out the difference between him and the Khade/Sandeep duo is their asian games medals.

And Srihari just being 20, he has 2 more olympics before him. And the way he is shaving off times is very encouraging. Hope at some point of time he can be competitive on the world scale. But that's a long way to go.

Anyone has the background on these two swimmers—where they train, coaches, etc.? These are stunning achievements and I am a bit skeptical about these times. They are just too good to be true.

Prakash and Nataraj are targeting Commonwealth and Asian Games Good for them. If they cannot train for peak timing for both, then they should prioritize the Asian Games unless, of course, they do not have a chance in the AG, which I do not think is the case.

She does have long way to go to crack asian standards with her timings almost 6-14 seconds off Asian record.
