Abhinav Bindra officially bids adieu to shooting, says 'it's time to move on'

However, Bindra refused to answer questions related to the review committee saying he is more interested into developing a pool of players for the future.

"It's is a very big task especially because you can never break performance into black and white, there will always be grey and that's the nature of sport. I am the first to acknowledge that so I am not quite interested to look into the performance of the athletes and how prepared they were because that is the matter of past," he said.

"I have actually recused myself from the whole interview process because I thought that would be unfair on my part because I was part of the same team. What I am personally more interested is to set up frameworks, systems and protocols which could perhaps helps us to govern sports, organise the sport of shooting and also the whole role of managing performance, monitoring performance and athlete preparation in a more systematic manner.

"And of course to achieve that and in order to come to conclusions the committee obviously has to look back into the past. We need to see what we have done and how we can better that. But I think in seeing how we can improve, I don't want to look into the past and see what's gone wrong. My interest just lies in seeing how we can do better."

ISSF junior world cup is starting tomorrow looks like India is among one of the biggest entries with 55 shooters let's see if some serious talent is emerging from here hopefully someone can keep updating the results

okay since nobody has updated I am updating it our young guns are doing excellent after day 1 we are leading the medals tally with 3G 1S 3B pramanick has won the gold medal in 50m rifle prone, and sambhaji patil won gold in 25m standard pistol and the other medals are coming from team events .good start for us

Jitu Rai is back collecting his first world cup final medal in career at Bologna, Italy in 50m Pistol event ... He shot superbly for winning the Silver behind Chinese shooter Wei Pang ... Before that he qualified for the final on 2nd place scoring 568 pts.

In the World Cup final at Bologna, Italy, in 50 M pistol,India's Jitu Rai gave a sterling performance and won the silver medal behind Chinese shooter Wei Pang who won gold. He had finished second in qualification and in the finals initially he was behind in 5th/6th place only to come strongly to win silver.

With that Jitu has now won medals in Asian games, Commonwealth games, World cups, world championships and now world cup finals over the last 2 years. Unfortunately olympics was the only place where he faltered. Olympic pressure is something else it seems for even an otherwise clutch shooter like Jitu Rai.

Jitu Rai claimed the Pistol Champions Trophy, beating Serbia’s Damir Mikec in the final rush by 29.6 to 28.3 points ... Rio 2016 Olympic Champion Anna Korakaki was left in third place at the end of the elimination round ... With this win Jitu Rai pocketed the 5.000,00 € prize money of the winner.

The rules of the Trophy are easy and challenging: only the ISSF World Cup Final medalists are eligible to participate in the Champions Trophy, and they are allowed to choose between a 10m Air Rifle and a 10m Air Pistol match ... The matches are conducted in an elimination fashion: after the first four shots, the athlete with the lowest score has to leave the firing line ... From there on, after every shot, the lowest ranked shooter is eliminated ... When only two athletes are left on the line, their scores are set back to zero, and three single shots are fired to determinate the winner of the Champions Trophy.

Mairaj missed Bronze medal by one hit at World cup Final ... In Bronze medal match, both athletes missed a clay on the first station, but then Mehelba hitting all clays right to the end of the match to win bronze with 15 hits, while Mairaj missed again on the last station and placed 4th with 14 clays ... Before that in the semi-final Mairaj hits 15 clays for qualifying on the third place.

The first World cup of 2017 is started in New Delhi ... On the first day, we have managed to win our first medal ... Young Pooja Ghatkar won her first World cup medal when she won Bronze in 10m Air Rifle Women ... Chinese young girl Mengyao Shi created new World record with 252.1 pts ... Pooja qualified for the final scoring 418 pts which helped her to finish second.

In 10m Air Rifle Men final, Deepak Kumar finished in 5th position and Ravi Kumar finished in 8th position.

This is the first world cup in India since 2003. So, good start for us. We are playing a mostly young team here after the debacle in Rio with many of those who went to Rio missing.

Pooja Ghatkar had finished an agonising fourth in couple of world cups last year and narrowly missed making the team for Rio. So, it is great for her confidence that she stool firm in front of 3 Chinese and finished airhead of 1 of them to grab the bronze.

On the second day, in men's Trap, Zoravar Singh Sandhu came agonizingly close to clinching his first World Cup medal in a decade but missed a shot at a crucial juncture to settle for the fourth position ... Neeraj Kumar too failed to finish on the podium despite qualifying for the final in the 25m rapid fire event ... In the final, a series of low-scoring shots saw him crash out first in the six-player final.

On the third day, in 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men final, Sanjeev Rajput finished on 5th position after qualifying for the final on 8th position with 1159 pts ... In 10m Air Pistol Women final, Harven Saro finished on 7th position after qualifying for the final on 8th position with 379 pts ... So our shooters r reaching in the final but it seems to fail under the pressure of the medal.

True. But, in these cases, they did better in the finals than in the qualies. So, they are just shooting slightly badly than the medal-winners both in the qualifying and the finals and not necessarily choking only in the finals. The fourth place finisher may have shot badly under pressure, but, it was one shot, I think.

Yes, we probably expected them to do better in home conditions which they are doing but falling short of medals so far.( except Pooja's bronze)

Today, Heena Siddhu and Chain Singh missed finals of their respective events by 1 shot. They are more seasoned shooters. So, one could have expected them to do well if they had reached the final.

On the fourth day, Ankur Mittal won the Silver medal in Double Trap ... He lost in closely fought final by 1 point when Australian James Willett created world record with 75 targets ... Our other finalist Sangram Dahiya eliminated first with 24 targets ... In the qualifying, Sangram Dahiya qualified on 3rd position with 138 targets and Ankur Mittal qualified in 4th place with 137 targets.

In 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women final, Tejaswini Sawant finished on 7th position after qualifying for the final on 8th position with 582 pts.
