In your case, it is natural. The human tongue has a tough time pronouncing too many consonants one after another especially hard/harsh ones like k, r, s, h, n. Up until h, the tongue goes back and back. We need to take a breath. And the tongue needs to come forward and relax a bit. So, the "i" is natural to add. Notice, where your tongue goes when you pronounce the k, r, and the s, and then if you want to give your backward going tongue a break, then try with different vowels. You will see "i" is the easiest filler in between. "a" is easy too but the tongue does not need to come forward and break the backward monotony/movement. In "ri", the tongue comes straight forward, relaxes, and then goes back to articulate the s, h, n ... So, this is the most obvious vowel to fill in. Note that the "r" is not the "r" in Ram. But, it is the letter "Ri" as in Rishi. That compound letter "Ri" came into being because there were too many uses of "r" followed by "i" to give the consonants a break and the tongue to move forward and thus it got short-handed to one letter. This is complete conjecture on my part and is based in my knowledge of Bangla. Thoughts on whether it is true for Sanskrt (hard for me so say - so I'd put in the "ri"). Maybe it is but right to transcribe the "r" in Rishi, Krishna, Sanskrit to "Ri" and not just R?

Or maybe, this difficulty was resolved in languages that evolved from Sanskrit and thus those languages, being just more handy, replaced Sanskirt as the spoken language?

This week third world cup of the year for rifle/pistol was held in Baku, Azerbeijan.

It was a very strong field again and we could get 4 medals which is less than 7 we got in last 2 world cups.

Gold - (1)
10M Air pistol mixed team- Sarbjot Singh / Divya Thadigol

Silver - (2)
Mens 10M Air rifle - Hriday Hazarika
Womens 10M Air rifle - Nancy

Bronze - (1)
Womens 10M Air Pistol - Rhythm Sangwan

Our best events appear to be 10M Air pistol mixed team and 10M Air rifle ( individual). We have won medal in these 2 events in all 3 world cups.

Not sure what happened to Saurabh Chaudary and Abhishek Verma in pistol. Saurabh seems to have done well in trials but not sure why he didn't make it.

Shooting federation held 6 trials for selection of the teams. Saurbah did well in that 1 trials. But, his overall score in 3 trials must be less than those selected ahead of him.

World championships begins from August 17. 4 quota places on offer in each of the events. We got 3 quota places from last year's world championships where similar number of quota places were available. This time with some quota places already given the field should be easier than last year in terms of gaining quota places. So, hope we can get 4-5 quota places here.

Yes since all the 4 world cups which used to give 2 quota each were removed from giving quota this time, 4-5 at WC would be on par to achieve at least as many quota as we had for Tokyo (15 quota).

Men and Women 10m pistol quota will be decided today. Most of the Indian participants are rookies. India sent the biggest contingent of 53, US sent 40 and China 36. 48 quota in 12 individual events are up for grabs of which 8 will be decided today. :goodluck:

0 out of 8 quota places today. 1 bronze medal that too in 10m mens team. China has 3 Gold and 2 quota. Same trend continues in WC through out i guess. We have only quantity no quality.

Yes, disastrous day at WC. Forget about medals or quotas but nobody could even come close to making the finals.

2 years back at olympics and before that at Asian games, Saurabh Chaudhary was hitting 586 to top the qualfiers. Here nobody could hit even 580.

I so wish Saurabh hits some kind of form back before Paris 2024.

Yes, this is disappointing. This has been historically our best individual sport with our first individual Olympic gold and silver coming in shooting. However, we seem to be at a low in shooting despite significant investment in it.
