New update to forums

Post by Dhruv »

Hi all,

I have made a new update to the forums. The front page is down and will be replaced in the few days. Could you please check how things work and also let me know how many things I have broken in the upgrade process.

Thanks,

Dhruv

Dear Dhruv,

Thanks. I would very much like the side panel where I could read "unread posts" and "new posts" comes back soon. That is the way I read topics in this forum. I will keep you posted on issues as and when I see them.

Thanks, Dhruv for these updates.

As Suresh said, the features as "View active topics " or " unread posts" have disappeared.

Also I am not sure if it is only for me, by on my laptop the forum section all look jumbled up or mixed with each other. Does that anything to do with my screen resolution?

You should see a quicklinks button (top left three lines) which has the drop down options for now which will give you the same functionality I believe. Will be revamping a few things but will take me a few weeks to finish it all depending on availability.

Can you please empty your cache and retry. I have tested it with Chrome, Opera, Firefox, IE11 and also mobile versions of Android and iOS and it appeared fine to me?

Thanks, Dhruv. I checked in google chrome and it appears fine there. I think I have older version of IE on my laptop.

As always, thanks for your hard work on this site Dhruv!

The functions I use are all under the Quick Links pull down at the top left, very handy.

Thanks for your efforts Dhruv!

The site is now only using the width of the screen partially as against the full width earlier....
It's almost like a frame in the webpage...

True, only issue with that is while viewing the board index from mobile (adroid), the right side columns such as no. of posts and last posts are not visible.

Haven't checked everything but this looks a bit crisper to me. Nice!

I got worried for a moment thinking the items on the right panel (unread posts etc) disappeared but quickly found it at the top left pull down menu. No problems. Haven't tried all the moderator panel functions yet to see if anything changed. But I like this so far!

Thanks alot for the changes, Dhruv. The site is more mobile friendly now. The only issue that I noticed (which Sameer pointed out too) is that the details on right side don't appear next to the post (when viewing from a mobile device). I view posts in the order of the person posting them. For ex: I would click on a post right away of I know it's from PKB :) and a few other fine folks and I would avoid certain posters altogether (eg: bhagvati etc). After the changes, there is no way to figure out the poster until I click on the post. No big deal though. Everything else looks great.

True, Gautam. You have put it in a better way than I did. :D

That is about the only issue I have found.Otherwise, there are some great new features. For instance for a moderator, notifications of posts for approval are available on the right hand corner which is much easier.
