I've done a temporary thing right now from around 9:00AM ish UK time. SEF is now off for the forums but is on for the rest of the site. Kind of a compromise. Don't know if it works but theoretically the site should be faster that before but not as fast as it could be with no SEF

Lets see how this works out.
