Nice to know that Prasen is fine!!

The case additions on Tuesday, June 14th were: ANI 1, AP 33, ARP 0, ASM 10, BIH 26, CHD 48, CHG 38, DNHDD 0, DEL 1118, Goa 104, GUJ 165, HAR 430, HP 8, J&K 18, JH 18, KAR 594, KER 1989, LDK 5, LKS 0, MP 43, MAH 2956, MNP 0, MEG 1, MIZ 45, NAG 0, ODI 23, PUD 16, PUN 62, RAJ 88, SKM 3, TN 332, TEL 219, TPR 1, UK 25, UP 284, WB 135

No one responded at that time but how well said! Companies are still struggling with this and are now opening centers in other locations.

^^^ True. But there are signs of some changes these days. Nothing too substantial though, probably.

Meanwhile, the numbers for June 15, Wednesday were: ANI 5, AP 53, ARP 0, ASM 21, BIH 43, CHD 22, CHG 58, DNHDD 0, DEL 1375, Goa 82, GUJ 184, HAR 596, HP 40, J&K 25, JH 14, KAR 648, KER 3488, LDK 10, LKS 0, MP 57, MAH 4024, MNP 1, MEG 6, MIZ 17, NAG 2, ODI 22, PUD 18, PUN 74, RAJ 77, SKM 1, TN 476, TEL 205, TPR 0, UK 26, UP 313, WB 230

That yields a total of +12,226 taking our average up by +715 to 715 to 8,613... There were 8 deaths (2 i MAH and 1 each in GUJ, HP, KAR, TN, UK, UP) and KER added 3 earlier deaths.

So it hit the 12K I was expecting at the upper end. The wave is not slowing down in its rise. We may see it rise to much much higher over the coming weeks, or we may see an inflection point sooner, but no clue as of now.

Now TN is also over 500 :(... Gujarat, Telangana, Rajasthan, Bengal etc slowly going up too. AP may have just started.

The state-wise numbers for Friday, June 17th were: ANI 15, AP 46, ARP 0, ASM 11, BIH 72, CHD 55, CHG 153, DNHDD 0, DEL 1797, Goa 128, GUJ 225, HAR 689, HP 31, J&K 22, JH 15, KAR 634, KER 3162, LDK 1, LKS 0, MP 71, MAH 4165, MNP 0, MEG 3, MIZ 17, NAG 0, ODI 25, PUD 31, PUN 109, RAJ 84, SKM 1, TN 589, TEL 279, TPR 0, UK 30, UP 461, WB 295

That sums up to +13,220 and takes weekly average of daily case additions up by +698 to 10,053... There were 10 deaths (3 in MAH, 2 in KAR, and 1 each in DEL, MEG, PUN, UK, UP) with KER adding 13 more old ones.

Delhi/HAR/UP have gone back up again. TN and Karnataka keep going up.. Bengal, Telangana, Gujarat catching up... It looks like this will be a long slow-bleeding wave which will be there for the next several weeks, if at all it is going to go down. Maybe not. Vaccine immunity going down is most probably the main reason for this wave. I don't know if we are going to focus more attention on speeding up booster vaccinations again, but at least ICMR' said yesterday that the gap to the boosters is being reduced to 6 months now. Good idea!!

The raise in 7 day average is almost same as last Saturday! So looks like very similar to the first wave in 2020, when our numbers were raising slowly?

That is right. The rise of the wave is very slow like in the first wave. The reason for that may be quite different though. The first time it was because the people were much less mobile (the railways and flights were all shut down through that period) and so the virus went from place to place very slowly, while this time it is probably because people are not getting infected at anywhere near that rate and so the movement of the virus from community to community and people to people is slow.

The state-wise numbers for Sunday, June 19th were: ANI 3, AP 61, ARP 0, ASM 9, BIH 55, CHD 73, CHG 46, DNHDD 0, DEL 1530, Goa 78, GUJ 244, HAR 486, HP 8, J&K 32, JH 24, KAR 623, KER 3376, LDK 3, LKS 0, MP 62, MAH 4004, MNP 0, MEG 2, MIZ 2, NAG 0, ODI 51, PUD 21, PUN 103, RAJ 83, SKM 3, TN 692, TEL 236, TPR 0, UK 19, UP 490, WB 362

That yields a national total of +12,806, raising our daily case addition average by a +671 to 11,339... There were 7 deaths (3 in Delhi and 1 each in KAR, MAH, PUN and UP), and Kerala added 11 old deaths.

It is rather comforting that the death numbers are still not going up much, more than a month into this wave. Surely there are some 10 times as many deaths happening in India but it would still be not much more than 100 or so a day, which is much less than what we saw in the earlier waves.

Is Maharashtra and Delhi is starting to flatten? The 7 day average has dropped.

Interesting how newspapers report covid numbers. For example in Maharashtra the leading newspapers earlier today Reported 55% increase for Tuesday number . Even though this is true and factual, it provides no service to the people(the 7 day increase was just 100 , a mere 3% increase

By the way, Is covid a biggest step back for environment?

The amount of waste generated with use of mask, disposable scrubs(our dentist office charged $10 for disposable kits - gloves, gowns, etc). Also, the store stopped use of recycled bags and reuse coffee mugs as well for more than a year before slowly bringing it back.

I think real numbers are not getting reported. If I use my office as a case study, there are RAT kits available. Those who test positive go into self quarantine. Some of them do RT-PCR but the milder ones who don't need to see a doctor can get away without a RT-PCR. Also mandatory testing of all contacts is not happening any more. Lot of people who have mild symptoms don't even bother to get RAT done. RAT results don't get reported to the Government.
In general as cases are mild nobody is panicking. In fact nobody is even bothered. However, those who took the 2nd doese long ago and didn't take the 3rd dose or din't have covid in between are having more severe symptoms. I guess those would be the ones mostly showing up in the numbers.
